I've been eating at the Mogul Tandoori in Trowbridge for more than 10 years. The quality of food is the best you will find anywhere. I have eaten at other Indian restaurants in Trowbridge and I can say the worst would be the Assam. It's a nice looking restaurant but the tiny food portions and boil in the bag quality food means it's a place to avoid for anyone who knows what good food is (I suspect that some people can't tell the difference and so they believe the Assam is great). Tale of spice is another good restaurant and way above the Assam in quality. Not as good as the Mogul but certainly still worthy.
Prices are good at the mogul considering you get MORE for your money. Portions are bigger generally. If you like tiny portions then go to the Assam instead.
Dress code is casual/scruffy/homeless bum/chav. The mogul does not discriminate.
This has to be the best Indian restaurant (and takeaway) around, and a bit of an 'undiscovered gem'. It is MUCH better than the other Indian restaurants in town. Most people just pass the Mogul by, as it is not in the town centre. Well, it might not look that special from the outside, but believe me the food makes up for it! The portion sizes are enormous and the food is very tasty. They do the best korma I have ever eaten, and I don't normally like the mild dishes! Try the chicken daka badami if you fancy something a bit different (it has pistachio nuts in it). This place is so good, that when I had some guys from Birmingham visiting to do some work for me, they thought it was one of the best Indian's they had ever eaten at!
had a takeaway from mogul tandoori in trowbridge, not very inpressed with the food, the resturant was empty but they somehow still managed to burn my wifes chicken tikka pieces, which was then mixed into rice to make a biriani, there was black flecks all through the dish, the food tasted ok but not great, it was the strangest tasting veg curry i have ever tasted but atleast it was as spicey as we had ordered, madras hot, the pilau rice had no taste, it was like eating plain basmati rice.
i would rate this resturant as BELOW AVERAGE and will not return.
for the best indian takeaway go to the INDIAN MASALA TAKEAWAY in church street trowbridge
