i applied to model guides on the 3rd and got a response three days later, they asked me to come down to a photo shoot in Birmingham. kubestudios.c... .
The lady on the phone made me feel comfortable as i was very nervous and had never done anything like this before. she explained everything that would happen on the day and also stated that i would be best suited to high street fashion because i am 5ft 10 and a size 6.
To book an Appointment I needed to pay a £50 deposit in order to secure an appointment. i didnt really want to pay £50 pounds however I could kind of understand where they where coming from. As soon as i payed the £50 pounds deposit i called my bank to confirm my payment with the auhorisation code they gave me, lool i just had to be sure.
When i went down for the photo shoot it was an amazing opportunity I got my hair and make up done loads and Interacted with Dan the photographer really well. he apparently worked with storm so i felt really confident and comfortable in his presence. I also learnt about different high fashion poses .
I struggled with locational work as I'm not confident when it comes to performing in front of other people especially people i don't know but the model coach explained it is a very important factor in the modelling industry. she exsplained as a model i need to be able to adapt to changes. she could also see i was distracted by all the people around me and taught me ways to ignore my surroundings and concentrate more on my body language.
At the end of the photo shoot as explained over the phone i would need a few images to send to agencies so when they offered me some of the photographs i was prepared. A basic package is £299, but i had some money in savings so i got myself a website, my dad also put some money towards it. he was so impressed with the photographs. i didn't even think he would care but he was very proud.
i wasn't prepared for the list of agencies and guidance they offered me for 6 months but i took it.
I have started approaching the agencies that they gave me with the portfolio some of them never got back to me but i got over 5 positive responses over the past two days and i will be going down for castings next weeks.
I am sooo excited and i am going to call them tomorrow so they can give me some guidance as i am really nervous about these castings.
I submitted a photo online and they contacted me saying they had chosen my photo specially and that they wanted me to come down to London for a 4 hour modelling experience. They were quite pushy, wanting me to pay a £50 deposit, that would apparently be refunded after the experience day. Model Guides wanted my card details over the phone to pay for the deposit, but I refused, as any rational person would. I have decided to leave this company well alone. The first 1 star comment is believable, but the last couple of positive comments seem, to me, to have all written by the same person. The poor use of grammar in each short comment is a massive give-away. Very dubious.
I spent £1000 on a photo/website package and six weeks later I am still waiting! The guy told me this was a great discount as we were the last of the day and he thought my sister had great potential and I told him I could not afford any more than that. They will take what money they can from you by making you believe what they are offering is to good to be true but please do not waste your money and buy anything from this company. My 14 year old sister had a great day there then they ruin it all by bullying you in to buying a package from £1000 up to £3000 that you don't receive! I have received 27 out of the 74 photos (on a blank cd) I was promised and they are not even of good quality.
Please note I have since set up my own website for my sister which can be free and you can airbrush your photos online yourself for free.
Many more people have written bad reviews but have been told to remove them.
Model guides assure me they are not a scam but that was 2 weeks ago and I have still received nothing! When they are trying to book you in they can't call you enough and tell you how great they are but once you have ordered from them you can email and call non stop and no one gets back to you. They called me straight away though one I contacted the model that was there on the day and said I would take the matter further.
