A friend of mine was recently accosted by one of these uninformed Ministry of Paintball salesman recently in Wimbledon high street. After cracking under pressure, he bought a book of paintball tickets from them and proceeded to invite us all to a paintball centre affiliated with their company.
This scam cost us £11.50 for entry, equipment rental and some paintballs (the salesman also promised lunch but that never happened). Upon arrival we were appalled with what we had let ourselves in for. The site itself had very few facilities, the staff were very rude and seemed like they did not want to be there, the equipment was old and very dirty and the guns were extremely oily. Plus the expensive paintballs they sold us often exploded inside the barrel.
The game scenarios were atrocious. They were nothing but woodland with rotting pallets nailed into trees, poorly constructed forts and rusted barrels dotted around randomly. It felt very unsafe and the game marshals gave us very little supervision. My group and I left just before lunchtime as we were so disgusted at what they had to offer.
Me and some of my friends had been paintballing with a couple of major UK paintball centres and their paintball games were like heaven in comparison to this rubbish, cheaper too.
Since our colossal disappointment that day, I learned that Ministry of Paintball don't actually own any of their centres they promote. They are just middlemen, promoting all sorts of sketchy paintball providers across the country even though they claim to be the largest paintball company in the world.
I couldn't possibly say a good word about any part of the experience, other than we were able to leave early. If you want to go paintballing, please do your research first and go with a trusted provider.
