Went in here for the first time on meeting a friend for lunch. Always avoided it as Princes Square always seemed an overpriced posh place to me. But in we went anyway. My friend had been before. Two course meal for £7.95 each. Not bad I thought, got given the menu, although the choice was limited it was nice.
The chicken noodle soup was lovely and the crispy shredded beef was wonderful. The fried rice was perfect and not greasy as it sometimes can be form takeaways
My mate had sesame toast followed by Chicken in blackbean sauce and he said they where very nice. after that and two irn brus and a diet coke, bill was just shy of £24.00
Which i thought was good value. The service was fast and the meal wasent rushed. The waitress even remembered my friend who hadnt been there for two years.

My god this place was so bad it was unreal!
12 of us sat for a meal and frankly the treatment and service we got from management downwards was appalling.
The staff spoke poor english and as a result there were many mistakes with the food and drinks ordered. On top the manager came out and handed out dishes with glee abandon and very little grace. I lost count the number of times he pointed at us, the customers, and simply dumped the plate in front of you.
The actual quality of the food was ok. Not as bad as the hospitality but nothing to write home about either. I'd compare it to decent take away in quality. The prices though were NOT take away style - very expensive for what you got in fact.
The restaurant is located on the top floor which to get to entails several escalators. I'd save yourself the effort to be honest.

I've just spotted the other review for Mings and I have to say I completely disagree with everything said. I can only hazard a guess that he caught them on a very bad night, as I have eaten in Mings many times and have always found the staff to be the complete opposite from that described. My own thoughts are as follows:
Over 120 different dishes from Japan, China and Thailand, there is plenty to choose from at Mings. The staff are exceptionally smiley and helpful, a joy to be served by. They even occasionally take time away from service for a sing-a-long around the piano. The food is delicous. The batter for the tempura prawns was light and crispy, the thai curry was delicately spiced and make sure you leave room for desert. Meals are served with a flourish and are beautifully arranged on the plate. Look out for masterful creations of swans and other animals, made entirely from raw vegetables. They have to be seen to be believed.
My best advice would be to try it for yourself and make up your own mind.

I've eaten at Mings 5 or 6 times over the years and enjoyed it every time. I've tried a variety of dishes from the menu, as has my wife, and we've never been disappointed. Portions are just about right and meals are well presented, plus, if you're having more than one course, they are well spaced out.
The staff have always been friendly when i've visited and service is prompt. Prices are quite reasonable and I would certainly recommend a visit if you're somewhere near Princes Square.
