The VIP room at Mercy is THE place to be. The main club is predictably loud and busy, and the VIP room gives you chance to have some space, and actually have a conversation that you can hear!!!!!!
Mercy is a very popular club, in the heart of Norwich's nightlife district of Prince of Wales road and Riverside, drinks are not over priced, and you often have to queue to get in on a Friday or Saturday night. Be prepared to see some sights..the club is open til 3am some nights and many are very much the worse for wear..
They say that first impressions last a lifetime and mine was deplorable. After paying the 7 pound cover me and my friends go to the dance floor and the stench is noticeable almost immediately as if someone just puked right in my face. The music was good and the staff was friendly save the manager. He was getting wasted with some people who i assume were his mates. He for some reason felt the need to kick me out because he didn't want me there. now mind you i wasn't dressed fancy but i didn't look like a bum and i wasn't wasted when he had security escort me out. When i talked to a few people it seemed like a common thing to get thrown out for absolutely no reason. overall ,my experience was poor and if you fancy security threatening to beat your skull in when you ask why the manager wanted you out don't go here its not worth your time.
Probably the best (as in most varied) club in Norwich. 3 rooms: main floor, cheese and VIP. Get into VIP for free by dressing nicely and arriving early.
The main floor music varies from R&B, dance, house bit of everything. It changes suddenly though from one genre to the next (although they are played in batches).
As you would expect from a nightclub, drinks are so overpriced, especially in VIP where you are looking at about £18 for a borrle of wine (really cheap wine!) and a premium on shots. But,it is nicer up there! more room (as less condensed crowd) and air conditioning.
Great place to go and relatively new! I've always only had good nights out here, it's easy to get to as it's on Prince of Wales Rd. I've only managed to go at the weekend when it's not that cheap, would be nice to try a cheaper night at this expensive time!
quite good, I did have amazing parties right there! as I'm french, seeing how english people are partying is actually breathtaking. I used to take a cab between the uni and the city, with mates, and we always had great time. add to this that a friend was working at the vip entrance, and so I did not have to wait like the others to get in!!!
Have you lost all comprehension of the value of money? You have? Great. You'll thoroughly enjoy a Friday or Saturday night at Mercy Nightclub. We all expect to pay a bit more for quality, but you'll need an outstanding sense of humour to appreciate the entry and bar prices. I hear the Halifax are giving good rates on mortgages at the moment, so be sure to talk to them before you go.
On the plus side the music is great, the decor is flawless, and the atmosphere is excellent. The door staff can be a little rough around the edges, but do a great job of keeping things civil inside.
You'll have a great time, but don't expect to be able to enjoy any more than a couple of beers unless you're feeling particularly flush.
Excellent presentation, good venue but the worst ever service in the history of clubbing, the assistant manage rude, bouncers rude, EVEN the manager rude! I got passed from one person to another till I got to bouncer and got kicked out for explaining my story! This is absolutely atrocious behaviour! I work in a club myself and know what it is like! I got kicked out for trying to get hold of a manager due to a member of staff being very rude and not just one! Yet the manager and bouncers were very rude themselves, I know where there get it from now ! This is not right and should come to EVERYONE'S attention the customer is always right and I know in this case I was, wasn't drunk, wasnt rude or disorderly was polite and tried to explain my side of the story but no one listened! I wouldn't even give this place a STAR to how they treated me and my mates! Steve the manager is appoling and a fucking dickhead , pardon my French! Please READ this and take into consideration what I have said, this place does not deserve you time or money the other clubs and bars deserve your time and money, thanks for reading
Way over priced but unfortunately the only half decent place to go to in norwich. The drinks and entrance fees are pretty ridiculous. Door staff not too hot and happy. Management seem to make a hash of the decor, staff and events. Would stay away from. Not my cuppa tea.
This is the only large commercial nightclub in Norwich, being probably 3 or 4 times bigger then the next largest (at least until Lava/Ignite reopens, but Mercy is still twice as big as that). Due to it's size (big) and location (slap bang in the middle of the busiest street in Norwich nightlife surrounded by kebab shops an bars) you will invariably come across people that will spoil your night sooner or later - clientele is not always the friendliest but there is a big police presence here most nights. Besides all that, the music is classic commercial dance, trace and R&B and the sound quality is great. Drinks are expensive so most people get there either at 1045 before prices go up at 11, or visit nearby bars that give queue-jump flyers and get there at 12. Usually opens until 3 I think.
