Mardi Gras is a great gay venue which has a very mixed crowd. It is in the basement of a building and a great night can be had. There is a regular drag artist, Stella Artois, who is witty and a great singer. The Mardi Gras does not have the budget of its richer cousin Funny Girls but is no less entertaining due to Stella's hard work and delivery.
The drinks are reasonably priced for a venue in Blackpool. There are two resident DJs who appear every night playing mainly cheesy pops and singalongs. Every week there is a guest singer which can be a bit hit and miss but generally of a high standard.
Mardi is a must if you are out on the gay scene in Blackpool.
I really like this gay bar. It's relaxed and friendly, there's a good mix of ages and different types of people. It's got a sense of humour - I love the screens which show random funny images and slogans, the DJ takes requests via text message which is a great idea, and there's always some really sexy male strippers to please the eye!
The door staff are very good too - polite and professional which you don't always find. It also feels safe and well-run, and there's a genuinely gay vibe without too many hen parties trying to avoid men! I like the bar staff too - cute and friendly and no attitude - VERY rare in a gay bar!
This is a gay bar in Blackpool, unlike some of the other on the Pink side, it has a slightly seedy feel to it. The drinks are expensive and they sell poppers behind the bar :-/. It is however what you make of it. Good place to go with a group of mates, not really the place to start/end an evening though.
Brill night out at the weekend when Stella is on. Bit quiet during the week and nothing much to keep you in the venue until the cabaret that is at about half twelve (a.m) Captain Ginger and Kieron are both great d.j's and attempt to keep the evening going. Stellas sunday service is not to be missed. If you haven't tried it i suggest you give it a go but leave it till late in the evening you'll love it!!!!!!!!
I love this place. Resident drag artiste Stella Artois, one of the funniest most candid drag queens in the North West! Regular male strippers and other cabaret. Fun, camp bar with large dancefloor and outside smoking area.
One of the best gay pub/club in Blackpool . Stella Artois is an excellent singer/entertainer. A drag queen who has an endless repertoire. The staff are friendly and helpful and the drinks are cheap. Happy hours throughout the week apart from Friday and Saturday night. DJ's Ginger and Keiron play music anyone can dance. The Mardi Gras is home to many gay men hence the regular strippers. The women are outnumbered probably by 20 to 1, but still a great place to go to.
Excellent venue. Stella and staff provide a warm welcome. Entertainment most days. Mainly free admission.
