Came in here before going to the Hyena next door and was plesantly surprised. Prices were middle of the road and the environment was very nice indeed. It manages to pull of a classy environment without descending into a farcical trendy bar.
It felt like more of a lounge than a bar with it's dark wood floors and leather sofas. It was a nice place to enjoy a drink.
The downsides? The choice of beers was a little thin and predictable although erdinger was available. The toilets were in a bit of a state.
Madison's is a very inviting, modern bar. Although quite large, it has separate compartments and intimate lighting which makes it ideal for socialising with friends. Madison's is renowned for its good value cocktail pitchers which taste fantastic and are great for sharing. Madison's is located on Leazes Lane near Eldon Square bus station and just a short walk away from St James Football Station. It is also connected to the Hyena comedy club.
Madison's is a cocktail bar connected to the Hyena comedy club, there is usually certain offers on gaining you access to Madison's after a gig at the Hyena. The prices are reasonably cheap on cocktails and trebles but expensive for pints and bottles. My tip would be to get a pitcher as it will work out the best value for money. The interior of Madison's has recently been redecorated and it is now populated by plush leather armchairs and is a very nice environment to socialise in. The staff are efficient and there is clean toilets also.
This is a lovely little bar which is nice if you are looking for a quite drink at the beginning of your night out. Drinks are cheap as special deals are normally provided, with a nice layout and setting of the overall place. The staff are quite friendly and there is easy access to taxis and food places located just outside the doors.
I have had a great time at madisons every time i have went over the last two years, its student friendly, drinks are priced well, bar staff and the door staff are very polite and helpful and make the extra effort to make you feel welcome. I will definately be returning for a drink when I am back in Newcastle this September. Its worth it just for the crack with the bar staff and head doorman. You won't spend a fortune either.
