Fantastic salon with really fantastic prices. A stone's throw away from the West Didsbury tram, this salon is conveniently placed down Lapwing lane.
Immediately upon entry I was offered something to drink and we got right down to business. No waiting involved, which was a nice change from what I'm used to. The entire staff and owner were incredibly courteous and friendly, and as a Southerner(US), friendliness and courtesy are high on my list of valuable qualities to have.
The stylist gave me exactly what I wanted done to my hair and then some! It was beautifully styled and at the end I was given some sample product to try. Come on, who doesn't like a good free sample? Perfection.
It takes a lot for me to change hair salons, but after one bad cut after another from Hair Cuttery UK, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a pampering voucher to this salon for my birthday. Tucked out of the way down Lapwing Lane, this salon immediately has a professional and calming feel as you walk in; you know you're going to leave with good hair, and you know you're going to feel less stressed.
Immediately upon walking in I was offered a drink - either wine, tea, coffee, juice and sat down with a magazine. The stylist was great and suggested styles for me to try and colours my skin and eyes could work with. I was lucky enough to receive an Indian head massage with my treatment voucher and it was just like drifting away from all my troubles; it felt amazing. The whole experience in itself was very relaxing; it was very easy to book an appointment, the stylist was great and the general atmosphere of the place was too. I walked away with great hair and a smile.
However, if I had to point out one gripe it would be that the stylists really go for the hard sell with their products. Unlike other salons where they just put mysterious goo on your hair, it goes shiny and nice and that's the end of it, the stylist at Macleod Bradley almost made me feel obligated to buy something, suggesting I bought their salon quality styling products and shampoos. A gentle firm 'no' sufficed here and it didn't detract from the experience in any way. A great salon all round, highly recommended.
I really like this place! Lovely atmosphere, elegant yet chic!
Perfect service!Am always happy with my colour!
I do recommend!
This is the ONLY hair salon I will go to. I have now moved away from Manchester and I travel back to go here.
The salon is classy but friendly, and it is expensive ish but not over-priced. £45 for a cut and blow and treatment, with 10% off for students.
They give great advice on products and styling and the cuts always last. They send you cards on your birthday with money off, and wll send you vouchers if you recommend a friend.
Clairene is my favourite hair dresser as she gives great cuts and has a really friendly and down to earth manner. None of this empty holiday chat, good fun gossipy chat!
They also offer you wine!
I purchased a voucher costing £35 for the offer of '£35 instead of £105 for a cut and finish, full colour and a luxury hair and spa treatment at Macleod Bradley - Save 67%'
When I arrived for my appointment it was very clear that the salon were not prepared to do the 'full colour' as said on the voucher. The Hairdresser was adamant that I could not have the full colour as I already had colour on my hair, and she did not want to use bleach to lighten my hair . This was decided before I had even told her what colour I wanted, and even after showing her that I only wanted to go a shade or so lighter than the reddish/brown that my hair already was, she still refused, saying bleach would not be good for my hair. I said I wanted colour not bleach. After negotiating she agreed to put 'a few highlights' in the top of my hair, that would be one or 2 shades lighter than the colour my hair already was.
What actually happened was that instead of using colour, they just used pure bleach to add highlights, resulting in the highlights being bright yellow/orangey colour. I expressed that I was not happy that they had done this so they put 'a toner' over the top and tried to say it was my fault for asking for highlights! I went home and still dissatisfied with the colour, I contacted the salon and asked if I could go back and have it corrected.
The salon were very rude to me, again tried to say it was my fault, and when I asked her to colour over the hideous highlights was told I may have to pay something towards the colour because I had used the voucher!
I feel that from the start the salon were obviously trying to save money and did not want to do a full head colour, or use any colour, resulting in them just using bleach on my hair because of the fact that I had a voucher.
The supposed 'colour' that was put on to correct the highlights has washed out after 3 washes, I am guessing they only used a 'toner' again to save money!
The salon are not prepared to do anything else to my hair without charging me extra money. This means that I will end up paying out more than the voucher to have my hair put right, defeating the object of the offer.
This experience has put me off buying vouchers in future as it seems that I may get inferior service or goods!
I have attempted to complain to the salon but they are not interested.
