I went here for a work party, and although the meal we had wasn't the best food I've ever eaten, overall it was really enjoyable.
The decor is nice, and I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful, particularly one particular barman who managed to catch me just in time when I missed a step in 5 inch heels and very nearly broke my neck!
Another positive is that they don't have a minimum spend for card purchases, which is really helpful!

This is a good bar in theory.  The ambiance is quite nice.  There's a fire place, some comfy couches and nice tables to sit at an have a chat.  I also like that they had an extensive mocktail menu as I was on the wagon that weekend.

However, the music was entirely too loud in the lounge area.  I really just wanted to have a chat but it was pretty difficult to do so.  The dancefloor is pretty small so it felt really crowded even though there were less than 20 people dancing.

If LVPO is suppose to be a lounge, then they need to turn the music down and create a more chill atmosphere. But if they're going for more of a club feel, they really should consider expanding the dancefloor and removing some of the lounge seating.

Last week I went to a bar in Soho called LVPO to meet a few friends that were having after work drinks. We ended up staying there a while and, although my friends really liked it, I had some reservations about it.

It takes a lot for me to like a bar that serves cocktails because they've always got really slow service but there's some exceptions that make up for it with experienced barstaff that make killer cocktails quickly. One example is Lab on Old Compton Street, Soho, which I couldn't recommend more.

Unfortunately, this bar had particularly slow service despite the bar being relatively quiet. Another pet hate of mine is when you go up to the bar, get your wallet out and slap it down onto a dripping wet and very sticky surface. Worse still, is when you lean on the bar and cover your arms in it all.

At the time I felt it necessary to tweet that I didn't like this place from my phone and thought that it was highly unlikely that I'd return there in a hurry. Then a few days later I got a tweet back from the bar asking if I'd like to come back to try the bar again for a second time. I was impressed with their response so wrote a blog post about it.

They offered me a free bar tab so it was impossible for me to refuse. This visit was better, good in fact. Although the service was still just as slow, there was no dripping wet bar and the fact that I wasn't spending £4 on a beer each time made it considerably easier to ignore the shit bits.

Despite their quick response and generous invite back with a free bar tab, it's unlikely that I'll return to LVPO. I commend their efforts to lure me and me back but for some reason I still have a lingering dislike for this place. The wet bar and slow service would be no problem to me in any bar that charged me between £2 and £3 for a pint, but when it's £4 they need to make it worth the extra.

Link to the tweets they sent me...

Okay you know you've been here one too many times when you recognize the DJ's mix. He's not really spinning live....he's using the same mix from last weekend!! The same exact sequence and transition of song choice. Bore. Yawn.

I find it hard to have a good time here. There's a separate room for the dance floor in which has the poorest ventilation I've ever experienced for dancing. I can't stand one minute in there, there's no windows, no sign of air conditioning, and it feels just like a hot sauna! Who wants to dance in a sauna?!

A lot of mainstream pop music, the songs that always played on the radio but you never liked, yeah those kinds. Drinks are pricier than they should be because it's not a nightclub, its a dinky little bar/lounge!

Was it the bar, the girls with us in leather corsets, or the place? Somehow I had a good time!

I'm not entirely sure what it was but this was a short stop on a short section of a Soho pub crawl. I seem to remember it being quite dark, quite quiet and quite expensive, £3 for a teeny bottle of Beck's during happy hour!

For what the place was it seemed to have enough room for all us, decent food and decent service, not bad but not somewhere I'd go out of my way to return to

As Soho bars go, LVPO (Lupo) is prettty good. Arrive before 6pm and you will get two cocktails for the price of one. Surroundings, good. Staff and service, good. Crowd, good . . . . . if frenzied - this is Soho! All in all, a good place to sample the Soho vibe without breaking the bank.

PS - If you smoke, there is nothing funnier than being outside and sharing the pavement with the old lions at the French House next door.

    I totally heart Lvpo.

Always guaranteed a good time - although not always a table, the place is packed most nights! Happy hour every night of the week means mid-week celebrations needn't burn your paycheck, and an eclectic crowd of young professionals & soho-ites means random chat often on the cards.

Plenty of areas to book (although not always practically positioned) and dancing 'til late. Love it.

Dark and moody, a nice pubby bar in Soho, especially nice in the winter months.
Hosts burlesque drawing sessions on Tuesday afternoons from the Life Drawing Society. Excellent event!

This bar is crap. I popped in this week around 5.30pm solely based on it's convenient location to find a no staff at the bar. In fact no staff were to be seen anywhere despite there being a several people waiting to be served.
    We promptly walked out.

I also came to this bar several years ago for a birthday party and we were treated abysmally. A table for the group had been booked and after two hours of ordering champagne and food we were told by the bouncers to move so the could create a dancefloor. We demanded to speak to the Manager but he refused to see us. So we had to stand with our buckets and hold our just-ordered platter food in our hands as the rest of the bar was full.

This place hardly deserves 1 star.

Not a bad bar in Soho, although I tend to pop in here for a drink after work before going out to dinner.

In the summer, sit outside on a table and watch the world go by, lots of characters in Soho!

I have been to parties here before where the rear bar has been hired for a private function.

Lupo (Or LVPO as it is written above the door) is a cool little bar just off Shaftesbury Avenue in Soho. I've only ever been here on a Friday or Saturday night and it can get quite busy, but is definitely worth a visit all the same.

Relaxed vibe, comfy seats around the walls and candles dotted about the place make it a great place for a date, or just a chilled out way to kick off an evening. Just make sure you arrive early enough to claim your spot! It can get quite expensive though, with no beers on tap and the majority of drinks coming in bottles - unless you go for the cocktails which are highly recommended!

I went there for the second time last night and I don't think I'll be back frankly. I was waiting to be convinced this time round actually.

Place is good in the sense that the deco is nice, the layout is cool, you can book for large parties, music is nice and you're in the heart of Soho. Also that you can get a bottle of wine for £8 during happy hour.

Apart from that, I did not really like the atmosphere, the crowd or the way this bar is managed. Used to work in a pub for 3 years so I probably see things other people don't and my expectations are certainly high!

Staff were not particularly friendly last night nor efficient although not a busy time. Place was also full of dirty glasses on the tables when people had left and on the bar as well which could not be accessed from our reserved area due to this. It remained like that for the whole time I was there (4h). The icing on the cake would be the Manager showing is face a couple of times that evening only to reduce the lights and passing by the 50 or so empty and dirty glasses on his bar and well, ignoring them...And I was served some wine in a dirty glass and when asked to change it nicely, got the waitress rolling her eyes and sigh, lovely!!

This bar is not for me!

Had a great Friday night here for a friends birthday.  Not the cheapest place in town, but in a great location, good music and an acceptable menu.

I was organising my friend's hen earlier this year and after exhaustive research of places to have a cocktail class in London, settled on LVPO. Not only was it dirt cheap  £25 a head for lots of platters of food, Smarties on the bar, cupcakes and two bottles of fizz with sparklers afterwards  but it was incredibly fun.
I'd never done a workshop before and had no idea what to expect. LVPO itself was a bit shambolic  when we turned up nobody was expecting us and we had to wait 10 minutes or so for our bartender  but the class was great, as were the LVPO people  Charlotte and Dan  who I made my email reservations with. They were endlessly helpful and a great asset to the bar.
We had a glass of pink fizz and then our bartender showed us how to make a few classic cocktails.
We then got to make our own. I was expecting us to be watched like hawks, but we were told we could pick anything. We could even make something up! I made a cocktail for the bride-to-be (recipe here! domesticsluttery.com/201… ) and then later on we had a team cocktail making competition which was tremendous fun!
The platters of food were delicious and fed us all really well, and the whole class was just terrific. Our bartender was very patient and knowledgeable. Afterwards we sat in a little area upstairs before going on to the next part of the party, and as an extra surprise we were bought a GIANT cocktail in a bowl with loads of straws. Brilliant.
I can see why this mightn't be the best bar in the world to go to just for drinks, but for cocktail classes that won't rip you off, I would recommend it wholeheartedly.

This place is good to meet up with friends before going on somewhere else. The layout is a bit strange with a small bar (almost family front room size) at the front then through a small doorway to a bigger more spacious bar space in the back. I say stick to the front bar. Black and dark red deco in this cozy room makes it perfect for sharing a bottle of wine or twoalthough they do make fairly decent cocktails. Not bad prices for a Soho bar either.

Spent the first half of Sat evening in here with 4 friends. Door staff stop the place getting to busy and also keep the crowd well balanced so no drunk tourists! Few parties going on while we there but didnt feel excluded from any areas that were set aside for them. So plenty of room to dance to some slightly suspect music (Vanilla Ice) Why did i do it!? Overal considering its the West end its not a bad bar and not over priced. Well worth a few drink before hitting the fresh London air and clubs later on. And yes agree with previous reviewer its an odd lay out but I like this as it gives it a bit more of a vibe.

This is a great bar in the heart of Soho. It's been around for years and is a dark, intimate bar serving lovely wines for average Soho/London prices. It also has a room that can be hired for private parties. It's a great to place to spend a whole evening/have a few drinks before going on.
