mayfair's *newest* club!  (till tomorrow...) and they've left the name off the door to prove that you've got to know to *know*...

this is a straaaange space.  it's a "boutique" club - london's ubiquitous euphemism for  "tres small."   the restaurant/lounge area consists of a narrow corridor of sofas and a loft - the later of which has a peaked tin roof and sort of feels like being in chicken coop.

felt rather sorry for the barmen because there were only two of them and the three-feet wide bar under the loft had a LOOONG wait (okay, so it was fashion week, and the drinks were free... but i still can't imagine this getting streamlined, esp since there weren't *that* many people there...)

it was an hour before we realised (actually, we were leaving) that there's *another* downstairs.  yep, right off the tacky lobby area where gold chains are hanging from the the walls (not joking).  the door to the club bit looks like you're headed through a fire escape - but no - you're headed down to an area that looks designed for a micro-rave... they've lined the walls with glo-stick stripes on steroids that keep changing colours - RED, GREEN, SILVER...

not planning a trip back here ... the experience was underwhelming even *with* the open bar... the lighting is wrong, the layout is wrong, the decor  feels like they put it together with what was on sale at the "boutique club warehouse" ... there's simply  nothing congruent or polished about it...

LAME. it would be a tragedy to group Luxx with other Mayfair venues. I've been to my fair share of Mayfair clubs around London and this one blows chunks. Also it's hard to find, it's under a restaurant called Cielo FYI.

Think it can be summed up it in one sentiment: it is a club with NO DANCE FLOOR. the "dance floor" is an awkwardly red lit  runway, that is mostly just a path from the cloakroom to the smoking area. meanwhile, my vodka diet coke was £9, nice. i left within an hour.

AVOOOOOOOID. if you're around the area, go for Mahiki, Movida, Cafe de Paris, just don't go here!
