i've never been in on a weekend but reguarly go in during the week.
being owned by weatherspoons it is pretty cheap and has a nice sun terrace which you can sit out on and look out over the solent.
however the few times i've been in it has taken me quite a while to get served, not because it ws ridiculously busy, it seemed that the bar staff hadn't noticed me and kept serving others, it took another patron to point that I had been waiting the last time I was in!
It could just have been that I was unlucky but my experience was not good, it was difficult to get served at the bar, which at some points was three to four deep and had long waiting times. Our party ordered and paid for food which we were subsequently told was not available and we had to revise the order.
When the food did arrive, some food was dry and looked as if it had been sat waiting whilst they sorted out the revised order.
To top it all, they ran out of wine glasses and were serving wine in normal soft drink tumblers (which added a touch of class)
I would have given this less stars if it had not been for the staff who worked incredibly hard on the night I was in.
To be fair (and on balance) friends have rated this place highly and were surprised by our experience. It was also relatively cheap.
Could be a one off but there you go.
Turned out when I went again, it was not a one off it was pretty bad for service. Food was better, service was bordering on appalling.
A true Wetherspoons pub. During the day highly recommended for breakfast from full english to toast and tea, serving great coffee at very reasonable prices. It does get busy around lunch time and evenings so get in there early! Food is very well priced as you would expect from a large chain, but can sometimes be a little greasy and tasteless. It is prepared quickly and arrives at the table hot.
Look out for special offers, often to people living quite locally a wetherspoons magazine is posted through your letterbox and it is worth a browse through the special offers as sometimes you can get offers to buy one get one free, reduced price food and drinks, I have even had a voucher to purchase a coffee for 49p!
Very busy and hectic at the weekend, I would advise againstgoing in on Saturdays - you cant move!
