I found this place through a friend as from the outside it isn't the kind of place I would go to. It looks like a fast food joint and is often just full of young Asian men. However, it has two rooms - one is called the family room and if you step in there it is literally full of Asian families. A good sign I would say. I always eat in the family room rather than the fast food bit at the front.
You can see what they have on offer when you walk in behind the glass counter. The menu may say otherwise but often you just have to ask what they have, and that is what you will get - particularly if you are vegetarian. Having said that they will have at least 2 options if not more for you if you are veggie and I have eaten their on numerous occasions and the food is really fresh and tasty. It is also very cheap!
It was very late, my friend and I were very hungry. Let me just start by saying that.
Lahore Kebab is kind of misleading with its name and its exterior as it is in fact a Pakistani restaurant and takeaway and not just a kebab house/chippy. it's divided into 2 sections, a typical takeaway when you first enter with glass counters and menus on the wall and a separate restaurant area to the side that almost seems like a different place.
We were quickly seated and ordered, the waiter was quick to serve us though not particularly welcoming or friendly and the food came very fast, which worried me a little. It was very cheap but really wasn't very good. I guess you get what you pay for but I expect restaurants on the Ladypool Road to really step up their game as the competition is fierce. The decor is also a little shabby which makes you question what the kitchen must be like.
We finished and my friend asked for them to call a cab, they agreed. After we paid and walked into the takeaway area to leave, my friend asked one of the staff who was just coming in through the door "is that cab outside for me?" to which he replied "how the **** should I know?" Charming and helpful, eh? We thanked him for his time and left. I'm pretty sure I won't be going back there for my birthday.
Lahore Kebab House is a misleading title for this restaurant as most would dismiss it as a takeaway. It is infact a wonderful restaurant where most order to stay in and eat. The food is prepared beautifully each time I have dined here. The popular starter to go for is a mixed grill, which comes to your table still sizzling in the balti dish in which it was prepared..yummmmmmmm. It consists of bite sized pieces of all our punjabi balti starter favourites; chicken tikka, lamb tikka, lamb chops. Side order of fries is enough to serve a table of four! Lahore Kebab House is very generous with their servings. Stars lost only due to the fact that decor and ambiance of the eating experience is not the focus here, but what is the major selling point???..the food! Expect to have to ask for napkins and please try the array of main dishes from great balti dishes, rice and naan breads.
Rip off food wad cold and very late service dirty and filthy overcharge not a good place
