The gym has a reasonable suite of Technogym equipment although this is very much the bottom end of the range stuff so if you like detailed programmes or heart rate monitors then you'll be disappointed. Weights machines are fine and the free weights selection is good.
Changing room is clean but a little cramped. Moon docking during busy times is probable if you're not aware of your surroundings ;)
Staff were initially a bit unfriendly and seemed unwilling to resolve customer issues. I was disappointed as a relatively new customer.
I had the chance to try this gym as I was attending a class that was being put on for charity. With this in mind, I have to point out that my review is very much based on what I saw; I didn't have the chance to get on the equipment!
The gym is a fair size with the usual range of machines you would expect. I was attending a spin class; the bikes didn't seem to be the most modern, but they were up to the task. The place the class was held, however, was just by the changing rooms. As it wasn't separated from the gym it made it a little difficult to focus on your workout. Also, whoever was the other side of the partition would have been exercising to the class soundtrack as we puffed our way through!
The changing area was quite small, with only a few showers and one toilet. There also wasn't a great number of lockers either.
Overall, I suspect that, as a mid-price gym, this probably isn't too bad, however, my short experience of it didn't lure me back. The layout didn't appeal and the facilities didn't seem great. If I was looking for a new city centre gym, I probably wouldn't include this one on my list.
I have been a member of this gym for a number of months now and have had to give it one star. The staff are still great BUT. The air conditioning DOES NOT WORK. I have repeatedly asked head office to address this and have been continually ignored. Without being melodramatic, I am worried someone is going to have a heart attack. Not only that, but bright lights shine on you on the machines. It is really, really bad and on top of that they don't give you free water as is the case in just about every other gym I've been in.
Also, the music is the changing room is ridiculously loud. I have asked staff to turn it down but this is yet another thing that needs to be addressed by maintenance.
Very disappointed. Have terminated my membership and will not join LA Fitness again.
This gym is good. If you walk past it though you would probably think that it is yet to open or its shut down as it really operates downstairs and there is not much going on from street level view.
The gym well arranged with two sections for the cardio workouts and the weights sections and there is also basic hygiene sanitarys like the spray to use after machine usage. Downfall is that they dont give tissues like they do at virgin gym.
Plus to it however is that they do offer free trials to check it out before considering whether to join up or not.
