This is something else. My wife and I went there to celebrate her 65th. We went for three days and I told her that we would be going to the station cafe at the Garde de Lyons for her birthday meal. Did she get a surprise, so did I as the bill came to £250, but you can do things for a little over half that.
We had a four course meal, and the nice thing was, all the better wines on the menu were also available in half bottles. So we had half a bottle of a top marque champagne with our first course and half a bottle of a fantastic Burgundy, the best I have ever supped.
The food just can't be described and all I can say is that it was everything they say about French gourmet cooking!
The service was as one would expect, impeccable, and the waiters were as aoof as one would expect with English speaking customers. However when I have them a special card I have written in French, the gist being "Alas, I speak three languages, English, Afrikaans and Zulu, but am too old to now learn a fourth one. French is not used in South Africa and, alas, Zulu is not very useful in France". This usually creates a little smile and we got on much better after that.
I might go back, but at the price, and looking at my pension, it would have to be a very special occasion.
UPDATE: Somebody, either at Qype or Yelp changed the name and address. The restaurant is called "Le Trein Bleu" and it is inside the Gare de Lyon.
