Our crew of 4 (my sister, her husband and my husband at that time) picked up the Lady Caroline from Kris Cruisers to start our journey on the Thames River from Windsor to Oxford and back. Lady Caroline is 12 ft. wide and 36 ft. long and her color trims were brown/yellow with a white coating over the rest of the houseboat. Mapping out our plans to go through 25 locks and mooring along the way.
The whole adventure was from May 23 to June 6. People in each town we stopped at were very friendly and most of our evening meals were in Pubs, the pubs allowed us to recharge our cell phones while dining, Pangbourne Tandoori had delish curries and to me, one of the best Indian food in England, hand carved (from trees) canes from a lock master in Chilton, antique shops, swans from Windsor (hundreds) following us along the waterways, saw my first Mandarin duck, rowing crew in Oxford as well as Eaton, visited the site where the Magna Carta was signed, women topless taking in the sun on top of their houseboats, spotted a handsome young naked man romping through the Queen's estate in Windsor and ran to hide when I waved to him with a "woo-weee" cheer! Just a written snapshot of my Summer ride on the Thames. Unforgettable!
