I agree with Sarah C of Sacramento, but please if you go to Gilgen, try the Kirschmakroonli, they are a melt in your mouth wonder of the Swiss German speaking world and most likely the enfant terrible of the Luxemburgerli.
This is a small bakery in Basel, and a bit hard to find unless you know what to look for, but it's a very nice little place. Quite small, so there is no café area, but the tartes and breads and cakes and biscuits are all delicious and typical of Switzerland. They also make Basler läckerli, a specialty in the area, which are small, rather hard spice biscuits with candied fruits. Try their plum tarte, it's a must if you stop in -- there are small versions and larger ones. Price is on the expensive side, but it's worth a splurge once in a while.
