Apparently Hotel Kogge is actually a Hotel (you'd never guess from the name would you?). As you walk past it doesn't /look/ like a hotel though. It looks like a bar, and a pretty decent little dive bar at that.
Although I wouldn't actually go out of my way to come here, it's next door to my favourite burrito place, Kombüse. To make things better, the guys at Kombüse are happy to bring your order over, and to make things better still, the beer is a fair amount cheaper at Kogge! Win, Win, Win.
In the summer they also have much more outdoor seating than Kombüse, so it's a bit of a non-brainer where to sit!
Great no frills accommodation located between the reeperbahn and the river, I stayed in the Tiki Room- 2 large beds and a sink for brushing teeth etc, the communal toilets are down the hallway (1 mens wc/1 ladies wc/ & shower room) The bar downstairs doubles up as the reception, on arrival you get a towel and earplugs as they play music til quite late, but it's really good music. It doesn't look like much from outside, but it's really friendly and cosy inside!
And it's next to a great mexican restaurant called Kombuse..which do delivery!
I am clueless about the hotel.
But the bar is solid.
You can order burritos to be brought from next door (Kombuse - the best mex in town), with a wait but no extra cost, the beer is crisp, the music tends to go all over the place in a good way, and if you are up to it, fight your way onto the kicker table out back.
Friendly, down to earth clients, outside seating in summer and the prices are OK.
Cool place to stay for a short visit to hamburg you wont get borred in the bar. Best rockandroll hotel in town!
