Absolutely despicable. I really would rather not be claiming benefits as it's in my nature to work. This Jobcentre provided me with 2 weeks of Job Seekers allowance in 2008.
However, as I was in between temporary assignments once in 2009, I decided to see if I could get some help while I was out of work. No, I was turned down. I had one day of temporary work in this gap and when I tried to do the right thing and phoned Kilburn Jobcentre to let them know this stupid woman said can't you cancel the work?. What an appalling attitude, although the sort of attitude I've come to expect from the authorities in Britain since 1997. Another reason they gave for turning 2 weeks of Jobseekers allowance down was that I hadn't paid enough tax (due to my doing temporary work through the Credit Crunch).
I registered with a foreign-owned TV extras agency through an advertisement I saw in one of Job Centre's official magazines. This cost me £250 and turned out to be a scam.
What do I think of the civil servants who work for this department? Scum just about sums it up.
