Anyone who hails form these shores will no doubt know about this hotel and its main location in Dublin. But the one on the corner of Fisherwick Place and Great Victoria Street in Belfast city centre has been recently refurbished and really does look the part.
It is right next to some stiff competition in The Europa and Fitzwilliam Hotels, but with Belfast lacking in enough good quality hotels of this kind, Jury's always seems to be extremely busy. Despite being from Belfast, I have actually stayed at this hotel and I was very impressed by the rooms. I was equally struck by how quite it was at night despite being in such a busy area so for that alone, I would highly recommend Jury's.

I haven't stayed in this hotel myself, so I can only review it on the strength of its bar (story of my life, really).

To be honest, it's nothing spectacular. The last time I went, it was after a school-reunion type thing in the Spires Centre. We all piled across to Jury's after a concert and we packed the place out. Being a hotel bar, it was really expensive compared to a normal bar and the stock wasn't that great (I tend to judge a bar on how adventurous their beer selection is).

Other than that, I can't really say much more. There was no music that I remember and no dedicated smoking area if memory serves, so smokers just had to congregate at the front of the hotel. This isn't a problem for me as I'm not a smoker, but I know it's always nice to have some kind of outdoor area to accommodate the addicts!

You kind of know what you are getting with a Jury's Inn. It is clean, well appointed and there are no nasty surprises in store for you when you check into this well situated city centre hotel.

The only issue is that this hotel isn't the cheapest and for what you are paying you would expect the service and facilities to be that little bit better. It doesn't really lend itself to a one night stay at those prices if you get stuck, you are much better off trying to stay at one of the newer, smaller hotels that have recently sprung up around Belfast.

The bar is ok to call in for a drink and the door staff always seem to be helpful and polite compared to a lot of other places around Belfast. There is good bus and train links right near the hotel which is a big help if you are visiting from out of town.

I just recently caught an episode of Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations in which he goes on a "Bullets & Bombs" tour (or something like that) and they pass by the very housing estate I wrote about in my original review (fast forward to 2:35):

I stayed here last January when I did a short surprise trip to see my loved one.  The rooms were a pretty good size and clean. It wasn't a closet like most hotel rooms you see throughout Europe.

The staff and service is meh.  They didn't seem happy to be there but they were marginally friendly and polite.  Although they did try to kick us out the room while we were sleeping and a "do not disturb" sign hanging outside the door.  They knock and knocked and knocked for what was like forever. They disturbed us with phonecalls asking if housekeeping could  get in there and clean the room.

Uh...our checkout was tomorrow.  What's the rush?

The hotel is in a convenient location and about 5 minutes walking distance tto the city centre.  There's restaurant downstairs and a bar. FYI...The person who worked behind the bar didn't know what a white russian was.  So if you want to go for a drink, go elsewhere.  And their breakfast buffet was ridiculously EXPENSIVE!

Clean, modern, less than a block to the train/bus station.  It's about two blocks from city hall and the TI.  The breakfast bar is pretty good, though they dry out their black pudding.  I tried black pudding at another hotel and it was actually ok when moist.  Good accomodations, though not nearly as homey as a B&B.  The landmark Crown Bar is just down and across the street.

the jurys inn is really similiar to a hilton
its clean and safe and well boring
we stayed here for one night when everything was booked
the location is OK but we still ended up taking cabs to the pubs
we got an alright deal (80 us dollars) but most of the time its much more than that
fine to have a quick magners before heading out
