okay, as the hostelworld review states, this is not for the faint of heart! i, personally loved it. but i love urban cities slathered in graffiti.
the hostel is located in the kreuzberg area of berlin. it is close to many clubs and bars as well as being a short distance for the east side gallery. besides being conveniently located the staff is absolutely wonderful! very helpful in suggesting where to go, what tours to take, where to eat and what shops are worth stopping in to. and to top it all off it is *incredibly* well priced.
i hope to make it to berlin again soon, and when i do i know where i'll be staying.
As the first stop of my Europe trip, I was not impressed by the staff. Not welcoming at all, rude, and they could not help us find fun things to do in the city. All they seemed interested in was hanging out with random people that were staying at the hostel. And to be honest, I thought they were racist to me and my friends just because we are Asian-American.
The rooms are small and the bathrooms are pretty gross. The shower and sinks clogged every night we were there. They give free breakfast, but most hostels do and the stuff they serve is mediocre. Bread, cereal, milk, coffee, tea.
We met some friends the first night that stayed at the same hostel, but then they moved to a different one the next night. They came back to this hostel to drink with us and the staff did not let them come back in the hostel, not even the common room.
There are other hostels in better parts of the city, with better prices and staff, I just wish we knew that before we found this place.
Don't waste your time and money here.
