Awful "service." Went here for a new SD card for my digital camera. I admit, I'm only a snapshot-taker, and what I don't know about cameras can (and does) fill volumes. My panasonic Lumix is four years old, which is 30 in digital years, and I was afraid the technology had changed.

So I brought the camera with me.

The sales dude looks at my camera, and picks out the most expensive chip on the shelf. I point to cheaper chips, and he says "you don't want those; they're less reliable." And he sells me a 4GB HD SD Card.

I get back to the apartment, and the damn card doesn't work. My camera is pre-HD. The SD card is useless until I get a newfangled camera. Meanwhile, I was lucky enough to spot some oldfangled SD cards in a hardware shop on the way home.

For incompetent service, high prices, and traveler abuse, this store gets one star. I agree with the previous reviewer: if I could post no stars, or negative stars, I would.

Jessops plc went into liquidation in January and most of the shops were sold to Snap Equity which now runs them.  I can understand why, as a photography shop they are rubbish.  There is very little that you can get from this shop that you can't get from Tescos or PC world.  They could probably do well in this part of London if they had an extensive range of Canon and Nikon lenses and sold all of the filters and other bits and bobs that photographer use.  They shouldn't try to compete with Tescos on compact cameras, they will lose.
Snap Equity, wake up!  Half a dozen Manfrotto tripods doesn't make you a photography shop.

I bought a Joby Gorillapod SLR Zoom here (which is a bendy tripod for a camera/lens up to 3KGs), but they didn't stock the Joby head or another head that would do the job, most disappointing.  I can't see me using Jessops again, they don't really have anything in the shops, so I can't go in try something out and get excited enough to buy it and if I want to buy online, there are so many cheaper places.

They get one star, because I can't give them zero and because of a very nice girl that works there.  She let me mount my camera with quite a heavy lens on to a gorillapod and attach it to a display pole in the shop so I could see if it would take the weight before buying it.  The gorillapod http://joby.com/gorill... incidentally, is excellent although with hindsight I think I should have gone for the even beefier Gorillapod Focus because it has slightly longer legs.  If you have a compact camera there are smaller Gorillapods and if you don't have one, you are missing out on a big opportunity to improve your photography.
