Bed bugs. Need I say more. Reception was awesome and helpful. A bit noisy too. But the awful review is due to the reception from the van gogh hostel (sister hotel)!!!
Luckily we discovered them at 2am and noone got bitten. They transfered us to their sister hostel van gogh hostel about 3 blocks away at 4 am. Didnt sleep at all. Reception at the other hotel was nasty and rude stating that we had to leave the room by 1000 am so they could clean it despite being up all night bc of the bed bugs. We wanted to sleep till noon. But the asian guy at the desk was having a fit as if we brought the bugs to the hotel. This was not the case and were false accusations!!! After this incident we avoided hostels for the rest of our trip.
BEDBUGS BEDBUGS BEDBUGS
My friend and I stayed there from 7/7/14-7/10/14 and I am completely covered in bug bites. The staff could not care less, even making jokes at our expense ("night night dont let the..."). They absolutely are aware of the problem and a little research shows me that a good chunk of the people that stay there get bitten.
This is a public health issue, all these international travelers come, stay, get infested, and go back home with the bugs in their case. I'm looking to see how this place can get reported so no more people get robbed and infested by this place.
I didn't make as bad experiences as the writer before me. I slept there only for two nights in a shared room with 8 people and have to say that I was probably also lucky, but I didn't have any problems. The room was kind of clean (not very common with so many people) and relatively quiet.
+ Free WiFi
+ Friendly service
+ Close to Museumplein and Public Transport
- Not really cheap for a hostel
