    this place is a gem, as sebx said above what more do you want  geat food, wonderful owner and chef, and a great house wine. Went to Il Cavaliere in Finsbury park last night  and we had a fantastic evening, the food is just so full of flavour.

    Great Italian. Delicious food. Genuine Italian decor and music. Homemade pasta. Self-imported cheese and meats. Great house wine. The owner and chef Antonio is great company and knows how to make you feel at home. What more?

Il Cavaliere is now a well-known restaurant in the local area and beyond. It is popular with pre match Arsenal supporters who attend home games on a regular basis and travel from far and wide, on these occasions Il Cavaliere provides a special Match day menu (link) which includes an impressive brunch menu for the earlier kick off times. Advance bookings for home games days are recommended.

The restaurant is recognised as venue to find very good quality home cooked food, at very reasonable prices and is fully licensed until 2am . The food is prepared and cooked to order (and sometimes served) by Antonio the Chef and his assistant Verona, hence the atmosphere is at most times quite relaxed and customers are not rushed, but care is taken to ensure customers are well looked after with enough of their own space in their time out. Time is taken to prepare food and consider the customer's preference; customers who come to Il Cavaliere understand this ethic and enjoy it.

Antonio the Chef, has more than 35 years experience of working professionally with Italian cooking. Antonio studied at a Calabrian regional school of cookery in the mid seventies and has never looked back. At the tender age of 17 he traveled to London to begin his cookery career. He has worked in professional kitchens as a chef since. Antonio has worked as chef in various regions in Italy, Germany and Switzerland.
From early 1989 he worked in the City of London as a Head Chef in City restaurants and was regularly featured in the Square Mile magazine which reviews events and food establishments within the City of London. Antonio's reputation for attention to detail and his attitude to wholesome cooking resulted in being headhunted by some of the larger Italian restaurants. In 2001 Antonio decided to fulfill his ambition to open his own small family run restaurant, Il Cavaliere on Blackstock Road, N4 2JW.
