I agree with Jenny, its a nice local and is improving all the time. The food is good although service can be slow when it gets busy. They always have 2 guest ales and typically one cider. Quiz nights on Tuesday and its typically quite popular - the dining area, while separate is part of the pub and the quiz will be heard quite clearly. Nice outdoor seating.
A change in ownership brought some improvements to The Hunter's Lodge but it's still a rather standard pub with basic food.
The interior is pleasant with plenty of places to squirrel yourself away. Unfortunately service is very slow which dampens the feel of the place.
Food is standard pub grub and the Sunday Roast below par.
Wine choice, although good, often finds one with a less than great glass.
The outside area is good on a summer's day.
Newspapers are provided.
A safe bet if you have the time to spend here but don't expect anything great.
This is neither gastro nor a country pub. It's just another Vintage Inn which means you'll get formulaic fare which is usually competent, but no more. Like the other brands they squeeze the portion control until the pips squeek and the stuff is prepared centrally and delivered to the pub for heating.
Doesn't mean its terrible but please don't confuse with places where someone is making an effort to deliver decent food and maybe some individuality.
Nice place and seems to be a good local pub for the neighborhood. I have been going to this pub everytime I visit Woking and it has made improvements every year. They now have nice outside heaters on the patio and a good selection of beers. Overall, the staff has always been friendly and helpfull.
Good standard pub that's trying to be gastro, but is just good quality pub grub, no carvery which would be good as there aren't many in woking. great location and garden, good beer.
