When this place used to be the Organic Cafe I loved it - for a while after it became Hugo's it wasn't bad. But unfortunately it's gone downhill. There's certainly an "organic" atmosphere.

Not many veggie options - but then it's not billed as a veggie restaurant. The burgers are variable, as is much of the food. If you're lucky it can be great - if not, not!

The staff can be pleasant - sometimes.

One thing that really annoyed me was they charged a couple of £ for tap water! Tap water! When I queried this they said it was "because its filtered tap water".

If you're in Queen's Park there are far better places to enjoy in the same price range!

Jazz on the weekend can be good - although the volume level is high.

If it's really sunny and summery and you can get one of the outside wicker chairs and tables then it's a very good place to grab some bloody mary's and coffee to come back to life after a big night out - but in IMHO this place has gone downhill.

Our family just visited London last week and we stayed in Queen's Park. We stumbled across this restaurant nearby the home we rented.

Great atmosphere. Wonderful food. Our waiter (the owner) was very accommodating and an absolute pleasure.

We had such a good time there that we returned a few nights later for their special: burger and brewer's (beer).

What a nice surprise. Tucked away in lovely Queens Park is Hugo's. Big rustic space with plenty of al fresco seating. Very light and airy - feels like the outdoors even when you're sitting inside. What particularly struck me was the exceptional service. Despite being busy, I was greeted almost immediately on arrival and shown to my table. My order was taken equally quickly, my juice and coffee arrived within minutes, and about 5 minutes after that, my brunch arrived. Very efficient, but also friendly.

As for the food, I ordered the English breakfast, which came with two eggs (I substituted fried for poached, which was not a problem ), bacon, pork sausage, a good helping of mushrooms, roast tomato, great fries, and a slice of toast. While it was tasty, there was nothing exceptional about it - just a good solid breakfast. I didn't try anything else but saw some burgers come out that looked appetising.

I would definitely recommend this if you were after a good quality brunch and short on time. The last place I had brunch took 90 minutes - and I hadn't intended to linger - just the service was lousy. At Hugo's I was in and out in 30 minutes, though didn't feel rushed at all. It would be equally comfortable to spend a lazy hour and enjoy a second cup of coffee. I'll definitely be back!

Hugo's is a great place... especially on Sunday night with Jazz concert of Tenor or Quartet. I like the general atmosphere, the interior design & the food is Ok as well... I didn't get charge for tap water as Iodax say above.
It's very relaxing for a sunday night to have dinner with live Jazz, it's good as it's not to packed!
For Jazz lover on small budget they have soup of the day which is always very tasty with a big slide of focaccina bread, for less then 4£!
They suggest to give 5£ per person for the concert, it's optional but I would say fair enough to give something

Good food, nice atmosphere and worth the mid range price they charge.

The all day breakfasts are particularly nice, a good local find!

Nice cosy atmosphere for a chilled date in dim lighting and appropriate mood music. Standard French/English stuff in terms of food, not had a bad meal there, the sharing platters are pretty good.

This is now no more... Replaced by Caldo's (better)

If it wasn't for Hugo's and their delicious brunches, my weekend would have been a total washout. Hugo's was my saviour!

An exaggeration maybe, but I'd spent the entire weekend lolling about on the sofa feeling sorry for myself. I had flu you see, and most of my friends were avoiding me like the, erm, plague.

But a trip to Hugo's, a boho-style café/restaurant in leafy, affluent Queen's Park turned out to be the perfect venue for laid-back Sunday dining. This place gets absolutely packed on weekends, and I'm glad we went at the tail end of their busy lunch service. It is also a magnet for glossy-haired, well-manicured mums (all so glamorous - I even mistook one for Elle Macpherson. Maybe it was the flu-drugs making me hallucinate) with their equally glossy-haired kids in tow, so if you can't stand screaming toddlers and cooing parents then I'd avoid Hugo's on weekend mornings/lunchtimes.

I think it's well worth overcoming your aversion to kids though. The setting is a mix of country-kitchen wooden tables and chairs, with blocks of red walls, imposing candles and wire mesh-covered lighting giving it a more urban, cosy feel. The food is as advertised - fresh and organic, with classic brunch fare featuring heavily on the menu. Think English breakfasts, croissants, pancakes, eggs in every which way possible. The service was on the right side of friendliness, if a little slow (though to me, the unhurried staff added to the homely, relaxed atmosphere). We ordered coffees, which were a disappointingly average, and one vegetarian breakfast, which more than made up for the flat-tasting cappuccinos. The veggie brekkie consisted of beans, cherry tomatoes, wonderfully fluffy discs of sautéed potatoes, eggs, toast and garlicky mushrooms - all very light, not too greasy and with a scattering of parsley. Not only was it delicious and flavour-filled, they even split the one breakfast we ordered into two plates for us, because I'd said I couldn't eat too much. What came were two very decent-sized plates for the price of one - the full-size breakfasts must be huge!

I've heard good things about the dinner menu, and apparently there's live jazz on a Sunday evening. Whilst I wouldn't travel miles for Hugo's, as a local, I will definitely be visiting again. Hopefully, I won't be flu-ed up next time...

This place is great. The food is good as is the choice of wines. The staff are always friendly and personable. The lighting and ambience make this place one of the best in the area.

Friendly service at a down tempo out of the way Bistro. Hamburger was fine but I've had better. Menu choice seem reasonable, and my friend said the salmon was good. I would come to this place to unwind. Apparently they have a live band on Sunday nights.

This is a real gem of a place, particularly for breakfast. It's really good value for money, all the food is organic, is cooked really well and the coffee is excellent too. The cafe itself is lovely with mismatching chairs and tables, wooden floors and a really good atmosphere. The only thing that's not always great is the service which can sometimes be a bit distracted but not always. I recommend the full english breakfast which is under £8 and is generous and delicious. If you feel like something else, the sausage sandwich is very good indeed!
