I stayed at this hotel during my nine day holiday to London back in 2005. It was a decent place at the right price. Just perfect for my budget.
It might not have been in the "center of action" near Westminster or near any major tourist attractions but there were plenty of places around the hotel to grab a bite to eat. The Tube station wasn't that far of a walk from the hotel either. So to me, it was just perfect.
I would definitely consider staying here again at my next holiday in London.

Spent a week here in September and wasn't too impressed. The rooms are very basic, the staff aren't very helpful and the restaurant menu consists of approx 6 choices of meals. The breakfast was okay, although I know a few people who work nearby who go in and have the breakfast as nobody asks for a room number of checks whether you are a paying guest which could explain why it is busy of a morning and empty in the evening.
The location of the hotel is a positive as it is close to Old Street Station which is only two tube stops from Euston and they recently made the WiFi free to use. I would recommend finding somewhere else to stay in the local area because for a bit more money you should be able to find a hotel that offers better rooms, friendlier staff and more choice of meals (try the Premier Inn just around the corner).
To summarise, you get what you pay for, and if you are not going to be spending much time in your hotel then this could well suit your needs, if however you will be spending a few evenings in the hotel then look elsewhere.

Old Stratford, Northamptonshire
As it is close to the city centre, this is a rather expensive Express by Holiday Inn, rooms are rarely under £100 per night.
On the plus side it is convenient for the city, located only a few hundred yards from Old Street Tube Station. The hotel is large with over 200 rooms, but surprisingly the included buffet breakfast is usually over quickly and efficiently. There is a reasonable sized bar, but if you want a meal you are better off exploring the surprisingly up-and-coming local area.
The only other downside is that I wouldn't expect to be able to park however: there are only about 9 first come first served spaces at the hotel and nearby parking is a little tortuous to find and over £20 a night.
Overall a good spot for business meetings and exploring London by tube, just remember to leave the car at home.

I've stayed at this hotel twice over the last few years, and couldn't fault it.
It is very close to the tube station, and very easy to find.
The hotel was spotless, and the breakfast area was well stocked.
I stayed here when doing training courses at work, and the training centre was only a 10 minute walk away, so again was very handy and ideal for my needs.
If I was visiting London again (either for Business or Leisure), I would certainly consider this hotel again.

Well, I'm pleasantly surprised! I haven't stayed here for a while as it was as described. Bleak. Rooms were all blue and white, tired decor and Orange juice that tasted of the powder from whence it came. No more! New design, lots of colour, the hallways smell of new carpet and the orange juice was REAL! I'm guessing a major refit within a very recent time. It isn't cheap for an HIE but I'd be happy to stay again. Especially as there are so many great restaurants nearby!

This hotel is pretty bleak.
I stayed here when I couldn't get in anywhere else and while the staff were helpful, the rooms a desperately in need of a facelift.
The bedding and bathroom were clean, but the carpets, wallpaper, grouting etc. all told a different story.
Also the first hotel where I've been supplied ear-plugs due to noise!]
I'm not giving it 1 star because I usually stay in better quality hotels and I suppose for a 3 star, it's adequate with decently sized rooms, but the dingy decor would really get me down if I was spending any time there.
