    Absolutely disgusted with this hotel. DO NOT STAY HERE. PLEASE read my review.  Im giving it five stars so yelp doesn't push it down the bottom of the page. An unfortunate fire happened during the first night of my stay however there were NO FIRE ALARMS WORKING ON MY FLOOR. As a result, I didn't evacuate the hotel until 40 minutes AFTER fire fighters came on the scene. No one knocked on my door to say there was a fire, and I only was able to hear the alarm when I opened my door and walked out into the hallway and heard it from another floor. My life was seriously jeopardised that night and the hotel has made no attempt since to take responsibility or apologise for the alarms not working. I had to make alternative arrangements for accommodation and couldn't stay for the first night as I was too afraid to sleep in my room knowing the fire alarms were not working. I notified the hotel of this before I left to stay elsewhere for the night.

    I came back to the hotel and stayed here the following night, the fire alarms were repaired but the hotel and dining room stunk of smoke (the fire was in the basement).

    Upon checkout I was charged the full length of my stay- even though several members of hotel staff were aware that I did not sleep there due to the fire. Why was I charged? I understand fires are unpredictable but to not even have FIRE ALARMS WORKING!?!?!? Since writing to the general manager, he has been completely unapologetic about what happened and totally ungraceful in accepting his wrongs. It is actually ILLEGAL not to have working fire alarms. The fire alarms weren't even fixed until the next day yet he claims it was safe for me to sleep there.

    I have not been compensated for since my stay, and I am absolutely disgusted at the Hilton hotel's lack of understanding what is a very serious situation. Had I been hurt or even killed, would they take responsibility for their faults? The care factor is absolute zero.

    DO NOT STAY HERE. THE HOTEL CARES MORE ABOUT MONEY THAN THE SAFETY OF ITS PATRONS! Absolutely disgusting and very disappointing for a hilton hotel. I just cannot believe the manager has not even apologised for the fire alarms not working, not only me but other people on my floor could have lost their lives. He needs to take the matter more seriously. People's lives were at stake and he cares more about money than recognising this.

    A terrific hotel literally overlooking Hyde Park - my room is above the treetops! It's on top of the Queenway tube stop as well, so very conveniently located. The hotel has recently been updated with new beds, flat screen TVs and the brightest of bright whites in the bathroom. It's a small room, but very well put together and the bathroom is all marble, chrome and glass. Additionally, all of the concierges have been terrific with dinner suggestions and attractions to see, not to mention super friendly.

    A couple nearby suggestions while visiting:
    -Wander through Hyde Park
    -Rent a bike from one of the many locations near all the entrances
    -Check out Kensington Palace near the Studio Gate
    -Visit the Princess Diana Memorial fountain
    -Find the Peter Pan statue
    -Exit the Queen Mother's Gate and wander through Green Park to Buckingham Palace
    -Explore Queensway street - tons of vendors, but also some of the best Chinese food in town, especially the BBQ duck

    Overall, a good location that's close enough to the action, but not right in the middle of it.

    I recently stayed 2 nights at the Hyde Park Hilton - LUCKILY my room was booked through American Express Travel at the screaming deal of $85 usd per night for two people. The room was fine although the mildew in the shower creedled me out a bit.. Ew, get some cleaner and elbow grease PUHLEEZE!

    We didn't partake of the breakfast offerings as we were too hung over both nights to bother. However, there was coffee and a Boots location close by to offer prepackaged foods and other necessities...
    The Queensway tube line is literally a left turn out the door of the hotel.

    We left the hotel, no problem except for the hotel booking us a private taxi to Piccadilly Station which cost more than a standard Black Cab... oh well it was a nice MBZ that we rode in..

    We then came back to this location for 1 more night to find out we had unceremoniously been kicked out and moved to a different location... Not too happy about that.. The front desk said they called us but that was total BS.. I think it had to do with our cheap ass rate...

    So... they paid for a taxi to take us to the Hilton in Green Park which was WAY nicer and conveniently located to NOBU where we were scheduled to dinner within the hour... Although we got stuck in twin beds, the room was better and they honored my $85 usd per night rate, of course.

    My suggestion, go with the Green Park location and check the AMEX travel site for cheap rates.. the only caveat is you need to prepay your visit ..

    Formerly the Ramada, now a Hilton and soon to be a Doubletree. Actually the room is sized like a typical US hotel room so, since it is three US brands, I suppose it would be expected. Flat screen TV, good sized bathroom and a comfortable bed.

    The hotel is listed as a Hilton but is planned to become a Doubletree.

    Good location and handy to Portabello Road Market and other Notting Hill areas.

    I got a good rate and as a HHonors Gold Member, the breakfast buffet was included. One of the better spreads I have experienced in London with scrambled eggs (not soupy as is the British style), bangers, beans, etc.

    All of the staff were efficient and friendly and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

    Im not sure why every time I visit London I stay here out of all the fine hotels the city has to offer....or maybe I do? This hotel is what every hotel should be in my opinion. The hotel makes you feel one with the neighborhood as it is in one of the best parts of London. Located across from Hyde Park minutes walk from Notting HIll and literally 2 steps from the central line its perfect!

    I particularly enjoy the home away from home vibe they send you. As the staff is extremely friendly and always helpful. They notice if you are having a bad day (stay away) or enjoying yourself. They also want to know how they can help improve on your stay and you actually believe they mean it!

    I also have to mention the price. Your staying at a "name" hotel min from a tube stop that will get you in and out of London and the surroundings and your not going to pay over 100 quid.

    As a hhonors member, I spend a lot of time in Hilton's. For the price, it's good. The hotel is right on the park and I love to step out and go for a run right in Hyde Park. Good location, since it's right by the metro. Good restaurants and solid connections around the hotel.

    The rooms are very average, but very spacious (compared to other European hotel rooms). However, everything inside is very average. The bed was not great at all. Very stiff. I'm sure if I had the park side of the building, it would be a beautiful view. However, if you have the back, you have a great view of the back of another building.

    Bottom line: for the price, I'll come back.

    Great location just off of Hyde Park.  Excellent value.  Comfortable room.  Friendly and helpful staff.  

    We needed a refrigerator to store my dad's medicine, and the hotel let us store it in their fridge as needed.  Very accomodating, and would stay here again if in London.

    Very convenient location - just seconds from a metro stop and tons of restaurants near by.  The rooms were clean and comfortable, with a pretty decent sized bathroom for a European hotel.  There was no free wifi in the room, but you could use it free in the lobby.  As hhonors member, we got a free bottle of water each day, which was appreciated.  The breakfast buffet was one of the best I've seen and it worked out to be about $5 a person with the deal that I booked.  You can't even get a croissant and juice for that in Europe.  I'd definitely stay here again if I came back to London.

    This hotel is a solid 3 in comparison to the Islington Hilton (yelp.co.uk/biz/the-hilto…), which I also stayed at in the same week.

    In short: Both hotels are within 3 miles of London city center (per Hilton website).  At the time of my visit, the Islington hotel was only 10£ more and is more along what you would expect of a 'typical' Hilton - bigger building, bigger rooms.  If you don't mind the difference after currency conversion, stay at the Islington one.

    But, this review is about Hyde Park, so back to our regularly scheduled program.  This hotel was a bit like a shoebox that was turned vertically and put in a corner location in London - the room had fairly cramped walking areas.  Hotel very clean for the most part, there was some mildew in the shower that was easy enough to avoid.  Bathroom and closet a bit oudated and somewhat poorly utilized organizational space, but sink large and there is sufficient counter space.  Bed very clean (no disgusting decorative covers), and there is a mounted flat screen TV.  "Double" room = Queen bed.  Room had ceiling Air Conditioning unit and a radiator heater.

    PROS:
    * Very close to the Underground: Queensway station literally around the corner.  Bayswater station 1 minute walk up the street.
    * Free Internet: Lobby computer for free internet (though this was broken during my entire stay.  Got a note from Hilton this has been fixed.)  Luckily Starbucks is 1 block north - Free internet with a registered Sbux card =)
    * Very convenient stores and restaurants around:  HSBC and Barclay ATMs/Cash machines 1 block away (both don't charge ATM fees), Tesco Express (water and snacks), Starbucks (free internet), Whiteley Mall, and restaurants.
    * Hyde Park and Harrods within walking distance.
    * Quick Check-in and Check-out.
    * Front desk and Concierege were very friendly - because the lobby computer with free internet was broken, I was allowed to use the Concierge computer twice (before I discovered the nearby Starbucks).
    * Housekeeping very friendly.

    CONS:
    * Hiltons give free water with status... no such simple freebies at this one.
    * Fairly cramped room.
    * Bathroom cramped, could be cleaner, and it wasn't laid out well.  Toilet paper was clear across the bathroom (mind it's not a very large bathroom).  Towel bars under the sink left towels hanging closer to the floor than I would have liked.  Standing shower only.
    * Air Conditioning thermostat hiding behind lamp... for those visiting in summer, this is a bit of a scavenger hunt/surprise.
    * Couldn't shut radiator off completely - turned it off, but it still emitted heat, making room uncomfortably warm.  Fortunately there is Air Conditioning, which really is a silly thing to run when it's 4*C/40*F outside....
    * Doors not thick enough - a loud neighbor walking down the halls woke me up.

    The hubby and I arrived at the Hilton Hyde Park quite a bit earlier than check-in time, but the front desk staff was kind enough to tell us that they would provide us with the first room with availability and that we should check back within an hour.  An hour later...we were given room keys so we could rest our jet lagged bods!  Unfortunately, just as I was about to crash into bed, I noticed grime/dirt on the pillows and duvet cover...just around the same time that my hubby noticed the previous guest's dirty socks under the desk.  Gross.  The cleaning staff arrived quickly to clean up, but I was left to wonder what  else hadn't been cleaned.  I definitely agree with another Yelper of this hotel...a bit of bleach and elbow grease would work wonders in the bathroom as well as on the walls/curtain in the bedroom.  There was definitely mold (dirt?) on the bathroom tiles and on the bottom of the tub in the bathroom.

    The grime was nasty, but come on Hilton...no wireless internet in your rooms?  The hotel provided us with a 2 ft cable cord for the internet for 15£/day that allowed me and the hubby enough wire to sit on the foot of the bed with our computer precariously balanced.  For 15£/day, it would have been great to have at least had a cord that reached the pillows or even better have wireless so we could both use our computers at the same time.  (FYI--the hotel does boast wireless internet for 5£/day in the lobby/restaurant.  Not ideal for checking work email in your pjs though.)

    This hotel is dirty and rooms are small.  This place only gets two stars due to its proximity to the park and the tube.

    Such a lovely and convenient location bordering kensington park.  The shower curtain needed to be more thoroughly cleaned but other than that we really liked it there. The staff was very friendly and helpful!

    My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights each on 2 separate occasions over a 3-week period. We booked through Priceline's NYOP and got a good deal at about $120/night.  

    Location
    Great location. The hotel is close to the Queensway and Bayswater tube stops, it is right across the street from Kensington Gardens, and is only about a 15-20 minute walk to Oxford street.  It is easy enough to get to from Heathrow via tube so no need for a cab if you do not have a lot of luggage (see tip below).  Queensway itself has many restaurants, a Tesco Express and Sainsbury's Local, a Boots, a mall, and a Starbucks all within a 5-minute walk from the hotel.

    Rooms
    The rooms are looking old and tired and are in need of a refurbishment.  The bathrooms have absolutely tiny shower stalls (even for a tiny person like me), cracked tiles, and mold in the grout.  The beds are so uncomfortable (both the twin and doubles), it felt like we were sleeping on plywood.  We could not even get facial tissue from housekeeping so we had to purchase our own (housekeeping told us they ran out, and would not be getting any for quite a few days). The air-conditioning unit did not work in our room during the first night of the second leg of our stay. The worst part was, the radiator emitted a little bit of heat (even though it was turned off)  but we could not open the window because we would not only have had to deal with the noise on Queensway but we would also have had to contend with security issues (there was scaffolding just outside our window due to construction on the building's exterior).  Not being able to open the window would not have been so bad had this happened in December; however, we were there during an abnormally hot April (highs of 28 degrees).  

    Service
    I would have to rate the service as fair to poor.  In general, staff are neither overly efficient nor helpful. Housekeeping staff treat you like everything you ask from them is too much bother.  Front desk staff seem more interested in talking to each other than helping or even acknowledging their guests (except for Doha who was really great).  But these are minor things I am more than happy to overlook. What I can not overlook is how the air-conditioning situation was handled by staff.

    When we informed front desk about our room's malfunctioning AC unit, they gave us the impression they would not be able to move us to a different room because none was available; that they were working on the problem; and that the AC could come back on at any time during the night. We therefore felt that we had no choice but to stay put. By morning, the AC unit had not been fixed but front desk assured us maintenance is still actively working on it, and would probably have it fixed by that evening.  Well, they didn't and NO ONE - not ONE - member of staff offered to move us to a new room until we asked (which was another ordeal in itself).  The best part?  When the front desk lady finally agreed to move us, we were told "we are giving you 2 minutes to pack" (yes, those were her exact words). To add insult to injury, we later found out from maintenance and from the concierge that the AC had failed on ALL rooms on our floor, and that the failure happened the weekend BEFORE we had checked in. It still boggles me why were we given the room to begin with because it was obvious they knew about the problem.  Needless to say, we did not bother asking for any kind of compensation because given how everything had transpired, we had a feeling it would be an exercise in futility and a complete waste of our time.  

    Conclusion
    2 stars out of 5, mainly because of the location (I would have given it a 1 otherwise). I would not purposely go out of my way to book this hotel, even at a discounted rate.  The aggravation of having to deal with service issues is just not worth the savings.   I honestly expected more from the Hilton brand.  Sadly, my experience at this hotel is something I've come to expect from most London hotels with the exception of the BUDGET chain, Premier Inn, which has consistently provided great service with an equally great product. Here's an idea, Hilton London Hyde Park management:  why don't you hire the Premier Inn staff (yes, staff at a BUDGET hotel) as consultants so you could learn a thing or two from them?

    Tip on taking the tube from Heathrow:  Take the Piccadilly line towards Cockfosters.  Get off at Hammersmith, cross the platform and take the District Line towards Earls Court.  Get off at Earls Court, cross the platform and take the District Line to Bayswater.  Doing it this way makes it easy to switch trains because it eliminates having to negotiate a lot of steps.  The only steps one would encounter is in Bayswater, and even that is easily negotiated.  This is by far way easier and cheaper than taking Heathrow Express or Heathrow Connect.

    Had purchased voucher to dine here .Missed date ,was late in booking .thought would forfeit voucher and lose out .
    Called hotel ,initially receptionist bad attitude and did not call back.
    However ,2nd time lucky as my request to dine was dealt with by "Disha"supervisor @the restaurant ,who attended to the matter efficiently and ensured all arrangements made to dine resulted in my husband and I enjoying a pleasant lunch which was only enhanced by the friendly waiter Siva.
    Hotel not "up to scratch "with initial impression @entrance and decor in dining area looked worn and room cold which did not bode well fro the meal served but customer service definitely made up for it .

    CANT I give a zero???? IM a VIP with Hilton.. and apparently that just doesnt matter when you drop ALOT of money to stay at THIS Hilton.. When I first booked our stay in London here.. I stupidly forgot I was arriving a day later.. duh! I immediately called and tried to render my mistake.. sorry.. no dice.. no cancellation.. ALL I asked was to NOT cancel our second night.. upon being told by the HHonors line to call the UK.. we sucked up the bill and did.. was told no worries .. our room would not be canceled.. WELL.. arriving almost 13 hours later after our flight and Gatwick Express train ride.. jet lagged like a motha.. all we want is our bed.. NOPE.. the snooty clerk.. told me that I was a no show.. after explaining .. to which I was interrupted several times.. and luckily... I was too tired for violence! JUST KIDDING.. she then said she would reinstate my already paid for room .. but we would be downgraded bc when we no showed they sold our room... this was a serious WTH moment.. she then told the other clerk.. that we paid VERY little for our room.. Not so.. the room neared $250USD a night.. we got to our room.. she had placed us in a room with a double bed.. (not king like we had booked and paid for).. wall to wall we had bed.. I know in Europe the rooms are smaller.. but this was ridiculous.. I could go on and on.. but this place.. think twice!

    Absolutely stunning experience, a hotel with all the bells and whistles, with no compromise on quality or service. This is the kind of Hotel that reminds one, precisely why it is good to be wealthy, as here you find out, you don't need royal blood to be treated like a king.
