A more 'upper class' place in Wimbledon, although the drinks are more expensive here than other places, at least you wont get snakebite spilled all over you and if you drop a pound on the floor can can actually pick it up without taking the sticky carpet with you!!!
Their food has picked up alot of late too... Great place for a steak and they have offers on ribs at the moment!
A few friends who I salsa dance with on Friday evenings decided to try out the salsa at Harry J Beans and I joined them.
There's a bachata class before the main salsa class but it costs £5 extra so we just stuck to salsa (£8). The classes are usually divided into 6 levels though last Tuesday, there were only 5 levels.
The venue is quite large but not quite as large as Bourne Hall where I dance on Fridays. The area for my intermediate class was a little cramped though it did encourage us all to take smaller steps, which makes you look better.
The instructor was very good and taught us a good routine. It looked hard the first time he demonstrated it but to his credit, he did teach us the whole thing.
The main downside was that I had to be at work the next day and couldn't stay til midnight - the music carries on til midnight after the classes end at around 10pm
Henry J Bean's Bar and Grill is a restaurant by day and a full on nightclub by night. The food is undeniably American, and the restaurant itself complemented by brash, modern design cues. And it's popular too, judging by the mass of people you can see through the plate glass windows on the weekend. You may ask why was I standing outside? I'm afraid commercial music just ain't my thing.
Henry J's has a devoted following, even though the kind of music they play is probably found on the iPods of 14 year old girls everywhere. But if commercial dance, hip hop and R&B is your thing, I'm surprised you haven't been to Henry J's yet. The food is good, drinks are moderately priced and the people are generally beautiful. If you're like me however, trying to enjoy a shot of Jagermeister with "Independent woman" playing in the background simply doesn't cut it.
Henry J Beans...i haven't quite made my mind up about this place yet. It's got an American feel to the place from the font of the name of the place to the interior decor and wall designs and the menu.
It's more of a chilled out restaurant during the day serving up the usual hot dogs, burgers and grills in typical American style. All food is at a good price, your stomach can easily be satisfied for under a fiver but it's all a bit stodgy and if you're calorie concious you won't find a huge amount of decent healthy options.
They serve up plenty of wine, a good selection of cocktails and a massive amount of spirits. The American whiskey is my usual tipple in Henry J's.
I agree with Stellio on the music front. It is a little dodge and they could do with re-thinking the play list but if it's sunny you can take a seat outside and avoid the questionable music selections.
went here for the first time only a month ago for a mates birthday and had an awesome time. The music, from what i remember was really good and although it is near on impossible to get to the bar to get a drink if you have enough pre-drinks it is a great place to have a dance and have a laugh with your mates.
Good night for a pub/club that is not too highly priced. We go there because there is no entrance fee and we can have a good dance at the end of a evening!
Horrible place and the bouncers have a terrible attitude
We love this place, great music, great cocktails, great food, great staff, the place is always really vibrant, great night out and door staff are really helpful and friendly. See you soon Henry J beans!
Lovely new bar and restaurant, nice staff but prices are a bit to high for what you get even during happy hours especially cocktails!!!!!!!!!!
