Havanna Berlin was one of my favorite places to go salsa dancing in Europe but the crowds can be inconsistent depending on which night you attend. There are multiple rooms here and the best night to go is when the salsa dancing is located on the large bottom room (don't go on the night where it's on the main, smaller floor). There were quite the number of excellent, fun dancers the first night I went and it definitely one of those cramped, hot sweaty places as it is located in bottom floor with little ventilation. The interesting thing about this place is that since there are multiple rooms, you can wander to a different room for hip-hop etc. Definitely a fun place but check out what night the salsa dancing will be held downstairs.
THE first location to come here, if you are a fanatic Salsa-Dance fan.
Their are 4 differnet floor, with 4 different tastes.
The Top Floor: Merenge and Bachatta
The main floor: Salsa
The first bottom floor: Hip hop and R&B
And the second bottom floor: Top 20 and dance classics.
On wednsday evenings, there are special salsa-evenings....where you can practice with your friends, in a relaxed atmosphere "without being hit on", as some of my female friends like to describe.
I have been on and off visiting the location in the last 12 years....but it is one unique, relaxed and enjoyable dance and fun location for the nights.
This may not be an accurate review for all Wednesdays, but I happened to be in town right before the salsa festival and came here for the pre-party, so I'm not sure if this is how Wednesdays normally are. Needless to say, I had a great time!! Some really great dancers, the DJ played a good amount of bachata (always appreciated, thank you) and no crazy stuck-up people like sometimes encountered at other places. The music was great, and I danced all night. It was also nice because there were a lot of places to sit. Hope to come again in the future!
Note, on Wednesdays, they only have the main floor open, not all 4 floors.
Also, very close to public transportation (which by the way is amazing in Berlin), so even though we left the club really late, it was easy to get home, with minimal walking.
It's a great place to go if you like latin music and it's probably as close to the real thing as it gets in Berlin. It's a smaller club, compared to the other dance clubs, and it's a very mixed crowd.
Located near Innsbrucker Platz, Havanna Club is a fun place to be. Different floors with different music - hip-hop, top 40, and Latin music. Eclectic mix of people too - would recommend!
