I very recently discovered this gem of a boutique in Covent Garden and am so glad that I did! Stocked full of beautiful Japanese-inspired clothing, the name really does depict what the designers aimed the range to portray. Full of cute dresses, jumpers and jackets, the accessories also really took my attention - with little fruit and heart designs in candy colours, this shop is definitely one for the girly girls though their dresses could easily be 'rocked' up.

The prices are quite expensive at around £69 for a dress but the quality is high and the designs are fun, unique and quirky. I'd say its worth the extra investment just knowing that you won't go out that evening and find someone wearing the same outfit!

I wandered in here to waste time before a meeting.  I saw some very cute little dresses that I want to believe would look good on, but fear would not.  I thought the quality was pretty poor considering the price tags.  Although cute, a lot of the stuff was more Camden Market than West End boutique.

Here's what made me decide to review the place.  The staff.

Wow, apparently they have issues with danish pastries.

Ok, so I was holding one, half wrapped in the paper bag, one bite taken out of it.  But, I am a sensible, sane, nice person with manners, so I held it theatrically far away from the clothes rails at all times, and made sure my body was inbetween said dangerous confection and the merchandise.  I tried to convey with my body language that I was a grown up busy person having a little browse before a meeting, cake in hand, but certainly not munching on said cake.

The female shop assistant behind the till eyed me nervously as I wandered, and actually WENT TO GET a man from 'out back'.  He came up behind me and tapped me on the shoulder, then said with gravitas 'I'm sorry, no cakes allowed on the floor'.

From the tone of voice you'd think I'd been chomping noisily on it and wiping my jammy fingers on the frocks, or perhaps holding it up against dresses as if to see how a corsage would look.

I hope one day to return with lots of hat boxes, clothes bags and a HUGE dribbly donut, so they can see what a valuable customer they embarrassed out of their shop, a la the agrieved prostitute in Pretty Woman.

This store may be japanese inspired as other reviews suggest, but I have broad shoulders and am 5'10".  These clothes fit me so it can't be all Japanese.  My mom and I stumbled upon this store on our way to the theater one night, and *loved* all their clothes.  The dresses are comfortable and flattering.  The accessories are fun and unique.  I will return to this store next time I am in London.

I agree that Happie Loves It has a definite Japanese feel - it's a bit quirky/kooky with interesting shapes (particularly tucks and puffs) and details (bows, pleats, coloured buttons etc).  While most of the clothes are cutesy and youthful - and probably suit petite types best - some pieces have more of a fashion-y edge.  They had a camouflage dress in stock at one point that I really wish I had purchased...

I was told quite categorically by the staff, that this store had nothing to do with Japan. I beg to disagree, the designs were very Japanese, with understated colours and heavily patterned fabrics, and having lived over there for 3 years and researched design for another 3, I should know. No matter, if they say they are not Japanese designs, then I guess they are not, and I will take my arrogant opinions somewhere else. Wherever they come from, the designs are pretty fabulous. The clothes are odd shapes but surprisingly flattering and very cute. I bought two tops/dresses and they have fared pretty well for about a year. The clothes are a little pricier than you would find on the high street, but they are still good value for money.
