Situated directly opposite South Wimbledon station, this old school boozer is not the kind of flashy place you wanna take a girl you're trying to impress out to, but is a good laugh. It has a very nice smoking garden area (a commodity lacking in many places locally) and also benefits from a pool table and Table Football in the bar. The beer is very well kept and always keeps a good head, there is a large selection of other spirits nd mixers and there is a large drop down screen that shows all key sporting events.
On certain night they will have bands playing (there is an entry fee on these nights - normally just £3) and these are great fun, nights like this distinctly lacking in other pubs in the area.
It is a bit dark and dingy inside but this pub has much more to offer than may first meet the eye.
Good pub this. Has beer, live music, pool table, shows live football on Sky and Setanta. Also has an outside area. The Grove Tavern is dead opposite the tube station at South Wimbledon. Pints are just under £3 at present and there is a cover charge when bands play on Friday and Saturday nights because it will be open till 1am or sometimes later.
Worth a visit with some friends. They used to do awesome Chinese food, but don't anymore but this means you can ask nicely and be allowed to eat fast food from any of South Wimbledon's 8 or 9 takeaway outlets in the pub. Bonus!
Great little boozer- standard pub prices- lines looked after n a really good selection of spirits.
Its the closest pub to wimbleddon that has a pool table! if thats not enough to get u down there, it regularly holds band nights for local and up n coming bands. And to top that off, if there's sport on then it will be on one off the twwo huge drop down screens.
And for the smokers out there (i know we still exsist despite the governments best efforts) its got a lovely little garden that maybe next to a major junction is greenn peaceful.
Oh n if ur gonna drive n drink, its got a massive car park (no drink driving, be responsible, dont spill ur drink!)
A very interesting pub ghood for a daytime or late night drink. It has a pool table with a pub champion and the beer is quite reasonably priced and they serve a good guinness. The bar staff are friendly and quite chatty. It is up for sale at the mo but hopfully the new owners who ever they are, are nice people. The ones at the mo are.
The Grove Tavern is a Lovely local pub with friendly staff.
The service in the Grove Tavern has always been speedy and it's never been to busy so it's purfect for a quite drink or a rowdy night.
The pub has a pool table and 2 big screens which are great for watching football (at lot of the time they show different matches on either screen).
There are frequent band nights on in the Grove Tavern which are normally played by local artists. There is normally a small entry charge on band nights.
The pub is smoker friendly with a large garden area which is mostly covered over.
Currently the pub is up for sale but fingers crossed it stays the same friendly pub under new owners.
i have never even attempted to go in this place because there's always some kind of trouble in there and police involvment. there has been other news of fights breaking out there regularly, some quite violent. the place sounds rough to me and i wouldn't feel comfortable in this pub. i would head more into wimbledon to avoid the hassle
