They are getting 5 stars because the sausage roll I purchased for my friend was actually hot! This usually never happens.

The service was good and prompt and the queue went down quickly

This Greggs is like all of the other Greggs. Considering all of the pastries are made centrally and shipped out to the stores in a frozen state, the only thing that changes is the amount of baking that these things have been subjected to.

There are a lot of lunch options nearby but if you are suffering from a Greggs Hot Savoury Addiction then this is your local dealer in that pastry covered crack. It is not good for you; however, at this stage you probably know that and will go and get it anyway.

I have already unashamedly (well, perhaps there was an ounce of shame) confessed my love for Greggs and this one is a particular favourite of mine since the staff are so cheery! The little lady that served me here recently really did put a skip in my step with her kind, smiley service which was also ultra fast. Surprisingly, you won't ever have to queue for too long here despite it's minute size. It also stocks all the usual Greggs' delights at the usual excellent value.

My top tip for summer is grab a chicken mayo big softie, a cake and maybe some juice and head along the road to the Botanics for a quick-fix picnic and summer high. A good book also comes in handy. Perhaps not the most romantic of picnics but perfect if you just wanna treat yourself on a sunny day.

My thawing towards Greggs is almost complete. Yesterday's breakfast was undoubtedly a turning point.

A crispy, generously sized bacon roll followed by a lorne sausage version of equal quality, washed down with a chocolate donut. Absolutely fantastic, and an indication that in a few years I may well be a grossly obese, disgusting specimen, but at least I'll enjoy my breakfasts if i keep coming here.

Amazingly, the staff were actually quite helpful here to the point I almost considered them human beings. A big turnaround from my previous dislike of the chain.

Greggs Bakers in Byers Road, Glasgow is simply Scrumptious!!

The staff are brilliant, patient and good humoured. They would need to be as between 12pm and 1.30pm it is heaving! The queue has been seen to twist right around the corner and half way down the street leading to Ruthven Lane! School children come in their droves during their lunch hours for hot sausage rolls, cheese and onion pasties not to mention the cakes! Oh God! The cream cakes! Fresh cream doughnuts! Mmmmmmm!

My favourite of all is a chicken mayo Big Softie on brown. There is nothing and I mean, no thing that is dry or unappetising about this lunch, mid morning snack, gosh, any time you feel like it roll ! It is soft and moist, so full of flavour and I feel positively healthy whilst eating this gastronomic delight!

A couple of quid in your pocket and you'll do nicely!

You can always buy a savoury mince round to put in your bag too! Take this home with you after work, bung it in the oven and heat it up for dinner. So quick and yummy! Lovely flavoured mince filling and gorgeous light fluffy pastry!

    Luv ya Greggs!

If you like your food greasy and mass produced get in an Alton Towers style queue and sell-out here.

Byres road has a fantastic range of independent bars, cafes and places where you can grab something tasty and freshly made, but if you have a hangover and need something guilty, stodgy and mass produced allow yourself a visit here to experience the cattle market for yourself.

Predictable sandwiches, cake and soup - pretty much my lunch on Tuesday. Perfect for when your fridge is empty post long weekend but you don't want to push the boat out lunch-wise. Selection has changed a bit from when I worked in Greggs many moons ago but the same annoyance still persists - why does everything have some kinda mayonnaise on it?!

This place must be doing something right because there's a queue out it every day. Greasy pies and such like at very cheap prices. No wonder!

Can't get much better value for money the Greggs. Sandwiches and pastries and always fresh. Would recommend this over any overpriced deli anyday.
