First trip to London so this isn't a comparison of hotels here.
We got a great deal on our room as it was booked through my partner's company. I think our standard room was 80GPB a night, which is a considerable deal when you look at rates that they publish.
Our room was nice & clean andd had a king sized bed, small flat panel TV, couple chairs with a coffee table, and the typical desk at the foot of the bed. One thing I noticed, and this is small, but they don't "do washclothes" in the bathroom here. We're here for two nights so it'll be interesting to see what our next hotel does.
We checked out the fitness center today. The gym area has a nice supply of cardio machines, free weights, and machines. Nice gym lockers - bring your own shampoo as the products they carry aren't very good. The pool is mainly for adults doing laps. There is also a spa (aka: jacuzzi, hot tub) but the temperature was kept so cold that we left shortly after arriving. My bathtubs are warmer than the temperature at which they keep their spa! There's also a steam room and dry sauna, but we overheard people complaining that they were kept much too hot and they couldn't bear to be in there. It seems that the Grange doesn't keep their finger on the pool area. Also, the spa seemed over chlorinated.
The location is close to the financial district, the Tower of London, and the District (green) line. There's no night life around here at all because of the business-ness of the area, so if you want something to do in the evening this place will be somewhat boring.
There's a on the ground floor called "Isis". We've gone there two nights for drinks - the service is terribly slow despite their having ample staff on hand.
It is a nice establishment. I felt quite comfortable here but if we had to pay full price for our room I'd have booked something else.
nice hotel in London, the rooms are more than adequate. BUT, some of the standard rooms can be quite tight. The real hidden gem here is the workout facility and the swimming pool as it has access to a health club that has great facilities. It even has an indoor driving range simulator that you can rent. I have gone swimming, played golf, and worked out here and it was great as the weather wasnt cooperating.
Overall a pretty decent value and the location is fairly decent as its close to the tube (thats subway for those of you who didnt know ;) and not the subway sandwich shops!!)
My room rates have ranged from 109 to 175 GBP.
