Great burgers, they know how to make them medium rare. Many different options including having chicken on any of the sandwiches. Also offer lamb and bison. Their skinny fries are addictive. If you like them get their app. I get like every other burger for free.
This place is kinda like Chipotle for burgers, and I love Chipotle. They have an app, their selection of burgers is good, catering to vegetarians and carne-lovers alike. There are lots of extras that you can add and ways to customize your burger to your tasking. I had the chicken avocado bacon burger and it was delicious! The chicken wasn't dry, the bacon was crispy without being burnt, and the avocado slices were plentiful enough without being overbearing and messy. I had an order of regular fries but I wish I had gotten the sweet potato fries (I didn't notice that they offered them until after I'd ordered).
At this spot, you order at the counter and are given a number; once your order is up, they bring it to your table. I came in just a few minutes before closing and they didn't rush me out into the cold as I finished up my meal. To wash it all down, I tried the Savanna Dry Cider which was somewhat sweet and somewhat bitter, yet refreshing.
I wish that they had these places in the States, I'd like to try more of what they have to offer up!
Excellent burgers and milkshakes!
GBK is the most reliably good burger place you'll find in London. As a vegetarian, I can't vouch for the meat (although from friends' testimonials I am certain they're excellent), but I know for sure the veggie options are amazing.
The chain was started in New Zealand by someone who wanted to take the fast-food stereotype out of burgers and show how good they can be, and mission successful - the extensive and varied menu is imaginative and excellently executed. My favourite is the Veggie & Camembert, which somes with Portobello mushroom, aubergine, red pepper, sweet potato, camembert, mayonnaise, rocket & onion jam. Another goodun is the new Butternut Squash Burger, with Butternut squash, polenta, celariac, spring onions, pecan nuts, breadcrumbs & parmesan. Wow! Another good thing is that new additions are always being added so you'll never run the risk of getting bored.
The milkshakes are also amazing - ask for a chocolate one with a shot of lime and you'll me more than pleasantly surprised!
The set-up and ambience is also good - relaxed and informal dining with the kitchen visible to customers.
Normally, on principle, I wouldn't give a chain five stars, but this one really deserves it - as far as burgers go, this really is as good as it gets!
To not award my local GBK a decent number of stars just because it's a chain that is long established, and let's be honest, just not that overly exciting to LDN-ers anymore, would be rather churlish.
The patties are very decent - moist and well cooked, and they have a huge range of burger options. I'm yet to have a bad burger here.
The shakes are freaky good.
The burgers are absolutely delicious, but their Nando's-style ordering procedure seems to slow things down more than speed them up and on the whole it's a little slow.
However the burgers are great and varied (although if you're watching your weight avoid them like the plague and have a salad!) and they also have some great milkshakes, which was a nice surprise!
Look for 2 for 1 vouchers for this chain online.
A mate took me here to get a burger and I was shocked!
One of the best burgers I have EVER eaten!
I had the Kiwi Burger which should be called the Aussie Burger cause it is an Aussie Burger (Beetroot and egg) and a Kiwi Burger would have a sheep and a used condom in it. Honestly this was the most tasty, fresh and fast burger I have had and do yourself a favour and eat....
PS.... the Lime Milkshake is golden
Not particularly impressed with this branch. Maybe I was there on a bad day, but this one seemed far too cramped and though most of the staff were lovely, one was a bit confrontational.
Firstly, the wrong food was bought to us. When we said it wasn't ours, the waitress snapped oh, well I was told table number X so as if it was OUR fault (there are no numbers on the tables - turns out it was for the people behind us). We then proceeded to wait another 20 minutes or so.
Eventually, she came over to ask us if we'd actually ordered anything. We had to show our receipt, and then our food was finally found. Well, half of it. We had to wait longer for our chips, at which point it was clearly apparent they'd ballsed the whole thing up and were covering it up. I'd have preferred them to have just been honest about losing the order.
All that, and the food wasn't particularly good. The satay chicken burger had far too much sauce on it (making it taste like a peanut butter sandwich with a bit of chicken in) while the chorizo burger had a measly amount of chorizo in. For the price, I'd have expected a lot more, and have come to expect it from other branches.
As I say, maybe we were just there on the wrong day?!
I cant believe that I havent come here before! Burgers were outstanding, we started off with some complimentary monkey nuts. Hubby had the taxi driver and he literally devoured it before i could even sink my teeth into mine. I had the meal deal, which is awesome. For 7.95, you get a small burger ( i got the grilled chicken--yummy), fries, and a soft drink, which totally hit the spot for me. The servers there were really friendly and hospitable (something im not used to in the UK), and offered up a loyalty card with the meal I love the fact that you can order a small or larger burger, dependin on your preference. Thank you GBK, I will be back!
I've really tried to love this place but the meat just isn't great. I think that's why the offer all the fun topping choices, to make up for the OK meat. I'd choose the lamb burger over any other. The milkshakes are good, onion rings also tasty, and gotta love New Zealand cider & Mac's, but burgers just don't quite cut it. Also, definitely find and print a voucher before coming in (they don't accept electronic vouchers but there's pretty much always an electronic one to be found).
Nice burger place, a bit expensive for the experience IMO. I had one of their habanero burgers, wanting a bit of a kick (habanero is one of the strongest pimento in the world..). Was tasty. I just thought they should make their own buns and that would make the whole experience far better.
GBK is a great chain of giant burgers for a decent price. Definitely McDonald's it isn't! I love the milkshakes (yummmmm, Oreos!) and chunky chips, but the burgers are the best part - cooked to order and covered in a variety of toppings, they're so big you need to use a fork. I wish they hadn't axed some of their more exotic choices and branched out a little on the toppings, but overall delicious and well-priced dinner/lunch out.
Best burgers in town, hands down. Not bad pricing either. Try the bbq with the skinny fries (if you can stomach it have a milkshake for dessert)
Service was ok, food came quicky and staff were friendly. All in all a very good place to go for a nice meal.
