One of the best Gordon Ramsey restaurants I've been to!
Being from Vegas, there are several Gordon Ramsey restaurants here. I honestly didn't expect this would be one of his best restaurants tucked in the Waldorf Astoria in Versailles.
Since we were staying in the Waldorf, I made the reservation for dinner online a month prior. It was one of the best meals I've had in France! So glad we stayed at Waldorf. The brunch in the hotel was also by Gordon Ramsey. It was excellent as well.
Ambiance: it was quiet and very boutique feeling where it had limited tables. Decor was alright, not very eye catching.
Service: it was attentive, the typical high end restaurant feel.
Food: I did the prestige menu. Scallops was prepared very nicely with caviar, fennel and pepper relish. I also enjoyed the cheese selection very much.
If you come to Versailles, I definitely recommend you to make a reservation for this place. Even better, stay in Waldorf to have the brunch too!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - 1898292986151 Dec 2022
I made online reservations for this restaurant for our first day when we were staying in the Waldorf. My reservation was for 8:00 PM and there were other dinners in here as well.
Our server was quite nice and our water was filled all the time. I had a whiskey on the rocks because for me I'm not able to drink any wines.
The inside seating and table are modern with a white cloth on top of the table. The plate setting was pretty and the food looked like little art pieces.
Each item tasted nice and was rich in flavor. The butter on the bread that they give you is so rich and creamy! I think I could have eaten the butter by itself, that is how good it tasted.
A wonderful dinner to start the same day as our check-in! Didn't feel rushed while dining here and it was just pleasant.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - 14 Dec 2022
Made an online dinner reservation.
We were a bit early so friendly staff offered us a drink menu and water as we waited.
Once it was time we were shown to our table.
There were many servers watching everyone carefully.
Each dish would come out one by one.
The whole meal took 3 hrs, which I didn't expect it to be that long.
The food was good, some flavors surprised my palate.
First came the finger food, 3 mini appetizers.
The fresh bread with the butters were delicious.
I enjoyed the sturgeon that was presented in 3 different ways.
They did warn us about buckshot in the duck.
My first bite I had buckshot, I didn't know what buckshot was but good thing I didn't bite hard (heard that people can crack their tooth from it).
Once the dessert came out I asked if that was it since I was extremely sleepy from a long day
the server said no there's more dessert we have to keep you just a bit longer.
I loved the lime sorbet dessert so good and refreshing!
Food was good and staff was very attentive.
I just wish that it didn't have to take 3 hrs.
Overall a good experience for my first Gordon Ramsay restaurant.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Cherylia G.Hoover, United States0426 Feb 2023

Wow wow wow. I really don't even know where to start. Absolutely the best dining experience I've ever had. As soon as I heard that we would be visiting Versailles during our trip to Paris, I knew that we had to try one of the Gordon Ramsay restaurants and this one happened to be open the night we were there. It was very convenient since we were staying at the Trianon Palace, which is gorgeous by the way.
We started with the Rabbit appetizer which included rabbit 3 different ways. Absolutely the best Rabbit dish ever. For my entree I got the beef tenderloin and my boyfriend got the duck. Just incredible, and I'm not sure what my dessert was called, I just asked them to bring me the most popular one, and I could see why it was the most popular one. It was the best dessert that I tried the entire trip.
Besides the food, the service was on point and the cocktails were phenomenal at a reasonable price. I am so glad that I was able to experience Gordon Ramsay au Trianon and I would recommend it to anyone vising Versailles looking for a great fine dining experience.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Kevin D.Scripps Ranch, San Diego, United States658922719 Oct 2019
Chose to do the tasting menu as this was going to be one of our last meals in Europe I found the overall experience to be very good. There were 3 amuse bouche offerings followed by the tasting mains, a cheese course and 2 desserts. Needless to say I was stuffed!! I think price-wise the food is inline with the overall tasting menu: my pro-tip would be to order wine by the glass or do the wine pairing. I ended up ordering a bottle of wine recommended by the sommelier which was good; but quite expensive and I am guessing that a pairing would have done some of the dishes more justice. It would have also actually brought the cost down by a few hundred euro. Oh and the Mille Feuille is hands down THE best I've ever had. I've had dreams about it since I returned home and will go back to Versailles just for it next time I am overseas. It was a 10/10.

We came here for our honeymoon dinner. The service is something I had never experienced before- just outstanding! We had the7 course meal with the wine pairing as well. Very French cuisine. Top of the line presentation. Nothing was out of place and everything was exactly on point.
If you come for the 7 course meal with the wine pairing expect to spend over €600-700 min just FYI. Of course they have individual entrees as well so not sure of the price point that way.
Also be sure to dress up. A tux is not needed but if you came in anything less than a nice dress or a good button down and slacks you would most certainly feel out of place.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Chelsea S.Austin, United States42722150416 Dec 2016
3-Michelin stars, 2-Michelin stars, what's the difference? Maybe I am not a refined human being, but if I had any power in the Michelin world, I would award this restaurant 3 stars according to my experience.
I... don't even know how to start this review. The service was astounding. When I sat down, I was immediately asked if I had any allergies with an offer to accommodate whatever my issues were (I just so happen to be allergic to eggs and avocados so this was greatly appreciated). And my husband was not told that a sports jacket was mandatory. So he got to enjoy his meal without getting too toasty in his short-sleeve polo shirt.
We had four different types of butter shaped in front of our eyes. We were served seaweed, spicy, buckwheat, and plain salted butter with an unlimited supply of fresh French bread (which is the best bread, no bias over here). I was so entranced with their expertise in using two wooden paddles to shape the butter into cubes, diamonds, cylinders, and cones. It was true artistry (also - I LOVE bread and butter like none other, so maybe this is why I am so obsessed with this experience).
We enjoyed the 10-course degustation because we are foodies and obsessed with Gordon Ramsay. Compared to other Michelin-starred restaurants, I did not consider the 120 euro price for this experience to be terrible. In fact, I found this to be a great value.
Too amateur to fully describe the dishes, I will say that the degustation was a sampling of courses on the à la carte menu. When we dined, this included an eggy soup (for me they substituted cauliflower and it was so divine!), duck foie gras, sea bass, shrimp-stuffed pesto ravioli, beef, a pre-dessert including a cheese and roasted apples, a dessert choice including an unforgettable minty sorbet, a smoky crunchy dessert, and another chocolate dessert. They also gave us a special plate to congratulate us on our honeymoon. I found the portion sizes to be heftier than a usual degustation, which, as a fat-ass, I also appreciated.
Oh, and the last point I'll make is, for some reason, these fancy restaurants have a habit of giving the ladies the menu without prices. I was a fool and first assumed that this meant that everyone gets a menu without prices because if you're there "you're not thinking about that!" But no - they give the man the menu with the prices AND the check every time! If you're a lady, you'll get a "gift" at the end. It's a little bit annoyingly sexist, but if that's the mentality with which 99% of the diners operate, then I can't blame them for catering to their usual non-riff raft population unlike me and my husband.
I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. I would fly another 10 hours to Charles de Gaulle airport and take the RER train direct to Versailles just to eat there again. I do not feel this way about every Michelin-starred restaurants we ate at during our 3-week stay in France and Italy. Gordon Ramsay at Trianon Palace was definitely better than La Pergola in Rome and Imagò in Rome, but I'd say on par with Le Doyen in Paris (although probably a better value because it is much less expensive)Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - James B.Beverly Hills, United States1113425 Sept 2019
Absolutely stunning and wonderful dining experience -- and it was just that, an experience! This was my first time at a Michelin-starred restaurant, and I'm completely convinced that it is worth the price. ~3 hours never felt so fast or so enjoyable! However, don't come here expecting a healthy meal. If you can't or shouldn't partake in meat, salt, or butter, please save your money and go somewhere else. You simply won't get the full experience.
Venue:
A small and intimate restaurant, with every table facing large French doors showcasing the French countryside. If you come here during the summer you can watch the sky change from day, to sunset, to dusk, to night. If you stay at the hotel, the Waldorf Astoria, it's definitely convenient to not have to walk far with a stomach full of butter and wine in order to take a load off.
Staff:
Top-notch staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly and informative. They will show you all the way to the restroom, re-fold your napkin, pull and push your chair in, and cover spills. The staff doesn't come across as pretentious, and they are very warm and inviting towards people who may not be used to Michelin dining. Every item is described in detail, as well as how best to eat and enjoy them. I highly recommend the wine pairing, as it completely rounds out the meal. The sommelier, Baptiste, was incredibly charming and made the meal.
Food:
The food was incredible. It changes seasonally, but every item was devoured lovingly. This is a great place to try French cuisine and new food items. Every flavor, texture, and scent was unique. They bring out hors d'oeuvres in-between meals, which is very welcomed. The entire experience is incredibly well considered.
My experience with this restaurant alone has convinced me to seek out other Michelin-starred restaurants. If you're in Versailles and get a chance, make an appointment. I'm certain that you won't be disappointed. All of my expectations were blown out of the water.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michelle T.Plano, United States2224143524 Sept 2018Updated review
A unique fine dining experience, at times for the better and at times for the worse. The hostess was absolutely wonderful and helpful. We opted for the five course tasting menu which lasted 3 hours.
Service is wonderful and some of the food is truly incredible. Highlights: amuse bouche, lobster raviolo, duck, sorbet. Lowlights: duck gyoza and not allowing 2 people to share the tasting menu. There's so much food that 1 tasting menu per person really ruins the experience by the end - you're so full, but you understand that it's such a waste not to keep eating. Plus, the wait staff totally judges you if you don't clean off your plate. Also, I wish there were fewer insects around, especially the one that was in my tea. By the way, if you're there with someone else, 1 pot of tea is sufficient for about 4 people, so don't order 2 because they charge you per pot. Overall, I would recommend coming here at least once. Despite all the annoyances, I did have some of the best food I have ever tasted here.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 026 Oct 2017Previous reviewA unique fine dining experience, at times for the better and at times for the worse. The hostess was absolutely wonderful and helpful. We opted for the five course tasting menu which lasted 3 hours.
First, you start off with the offer of champagne or wine. We opted for champagne (20eu per glass). It was a pleasant dry champagne and a good start to dinner (however it was not 20eu per glass good). We declined the wines but only because we are light drinkers and to be honest, the champagne left me tipsy through most of dinner.
They then serve a plate of four bites, two tuna (mediocre at best - the fish was overpowered by sesame seeds and I didn't enjoy it) and two round things that were probably the best thing I had all night. I wish I wasn't woozy when they were introducing the dish because the round thing is such a terrible description. Basically, it was an explosion of pure umami in my mouth. The bread quickly follows but it was the locally sourced salted butter that was the true highlight. You have the option of what breads you would like, we chose baguette, bacon, olive, and seasoned. The bacon and seasoned breads were saved by generous portions of butter smothered on them, but the baguette and olive breads were fairly good. They also offer sourdough. I thought the bread plate at Gordon Ramsay steak in Las Vegas was better than what we had here.
Next, the amuse bouche was served. It was cute: a yolky broth with mushrooms served in an egg shell with a piece of bread (I don't remember what the bread was topped with). The bread bite was meh but the broth was absolutely delicious. It was incredibly savory, with its texture constantly dancing between creamy and liquid. I had never had anything like it and it was an enjoyable experience.
Foie gras with grape jelly and a side of sweet bread were served next. If you like foie gras, this is definitely for you; if you don't like foie gras, you might like this one! All the little vegetable decorations on the side went well with the foie gras so I cleaned my plate better than a dishwasher could.
Starting to get a little full, a plate with a single (but plump) lobster ravioli convinces me that I can and should continue to eat. The ravioli is served with a vegetable sauce on top. I could have done without the vegetable sauce, but I don't think that was an option. The ravioli was so perfectly cooked with the lobster inside.
Some time passes between the ravioli and the next course. It was during this time that I actually looked around the restaurant. Everything was white and looked worn. Call it character. There was a spider the size of my thumb busily weaving its web on the window directly in front of me. An orange ladybug explores my bag, which had its own little table next to me. The lighting is bright like a normal restaurant. The table cloth and linens have a subtle and classy pattern. Overall though, points were deducted for lack of cleanliness and the fact that I dined with arachnids and insects (more about that in a bit).
I spent most of my time conversing and watching the spider until I was presented a slice of duck with a tiny beet, fig, "Japanese ravioli," and honey sauce. The gyoza and beet were adorably seated on top of a daikon. The duck was tender and paired well with the honey sauce and fig. At times the seasoning on the duck was too salty and the pepper's sharpness choked me. I was pretty full by this time so I didn't finish the gyoza, which was rather offensive in taste. I didn't understand what the gyoza was doing on the plate in the first place.
A small dollop of mint, basil, and yuzu sorbet was a welcomed sight. A cheese plate is also offered instead of the sorbet but I don't like cheese. The sorbet was perfect and light.
Next came a heavy desert with meringue, ice cream, chocolate mousse, raspberry sauce, and pear. This dish was just too heavy for the end of the night. Also, I did not like the chocolate sauce that was poured over everything. The light chocolate mousse was delectable, though.
When you think that surely dinner is over, they offer yet a tray of chocolates, watermelon, or pineapple. We had a piece of chocolate (not great) and 3 petite cubes of sugar soaked pineapples.
Finally, you are served a plate of 4 dessert bites: 2 Ferrero Roche immitations and 2 chocolates on orange petals. We ordered tea (10eu/person/pot) - not worth it. Final cost came to 356eu (Oct 2017). Worth it for the experience, but maybe if I come back, I will only order what I like. They should allow 2 people to share a tasting menu, as 1pp was far too much. After the bill, ladies are presented with a gift of 3 cakes. I liked the box more than the cakes.
I would recommend coming here at least once. Service is wonderful and some of the food is truly incredible.
