This hospital is a bit out of the ordinary, in that it's very luxurious, and has a 4 star hotel attached! Originally built as a private hospital by arabs, the owners wnt bust and the NHS bought it over and it became an nhs hospital to try and cut waiting lists.
When calling here, I usually enter by the Agamemnon Street Door; not because it is easier than Beardmore Street, but because I prefer the name Agamemnon to Beardmore.
That does not quite sum up my attitude to the hospital; originally built by a private concern, with massive support from the taxpayer, to provide first rate medical support to wealthy folk from overseas, the Golden Jubilee National Hospital offers real value to West Central Scotland.
Now the centre of excellence for Cardiac cases as well as hip and knee replacements, the GJNH draws patients from all round the health board area and beyond.
I am not sure that anyone would have built a National Health Service Hospital with related hotel facilities in the former shipbuilding area of Clydebank, but now that we have it I am glad that is is such an outstanding facility.
