This is a private school and therefore expensive to send your children to. Some might deduct points here for that, but I have known many girls from this school through various friends, and attended a few functions here too. It's an outstanding place in every department.

The education is obviously the most important thing and that's first rate - high scores throughout every area and an enormous degree of success in exams.

What I think makes Gateways so good is the attitude it has towards the pupils. If someone falls behind they spot it and address it face on, and this includes special needs children who they are quite marvellous at assisting. One-to-one care is given to those that need it and friends tell me that teachers are always available for private chats should there be any concerns.

The facilities available are superb - school clubs, music, drama, sports etc. - and appear an inviting area to join in with for the pupils. There is a great sports hall which is also used for exams and various school events, the theatre area is really nice to watch school productions (and more) in, and the rolling grasslands that form the sports pitches and grounds immaculately maintained. I went on a sunny day to a sports day and it was a great afternoon out with the pupils fired up so they were chanting for each other and the atmosphere was terrific.

Preparation for each school year is meticulous as Gateways gets everyone ready for the challenges ahead way before the pupil has a chance to have concerns - we're talking 3 terms before. They want everyone to be prepared.

The most important thing is that the girls I have met have all been positive about their Gateways experience and appear confident about the time which will follow their leaving. I doubt there is a better private school for girls for some distance.

We moved our daughter from a very large school where she disappeared to Gateways where she is an individual. She is noticed, her work paid attention to, her social interaction kept an eye on to ensure she is happy. I've had chatty calls from the school, just to check how she is getting on from my point of view! Fantastic!
