I give it 5 stars for quality, ambiance, friendliness of the staff and value in price. Great restaurant. You will not regret it if you try it. We came from the US for 5 days on a business trip and I looked for a Turkish restaurant. This was among many options and it was absolutely the right decision.

Recommended to me by a chic friend who lived in Angel. This is a really fun atmosphere with good food to bolster it! It's a bit tight on space, but that's what also gives its charm. You won't be disappointed with the dishes, especially the meat platters were very good. And it won't hurt your pocket book at all. We downed a few beers, chatted it up, and had a good time all around. Will be back.

The food is average / sub par. In general it was either it is too salty or too sweet.
-dolmas had some type of syrup on it and was nauseatingly sweet.
-Hummus was ok. Average
-Shish Tavuk - chicken was well cooked and tender
-mixed grill - ground lamb kebab was very salty.
Nothing special and not that great. Would not go again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jennifer F.Chicago, United States01423 Oct 2017
We were looking for a cozy spot for late dinner on Sunday and walked upon Gallipoli while strolling on Upper Street. The ceiling is dotted with warm lighting and the tables with candlelight. We were very pleased that they were open to 11 pm. My husband and I shared a beautiful bottle of Syrah and went with the mezze since we couldn't decide. So excellent, the right amount for two people. We particularly enjoyed the lima bean salad and the velvety hummos. The lamb was particularly tender. We would have ordered dessert but it was late and we were too full. Service was just the right amount of attentive. Highly recommend for a late dinner spot if you are looking for something warm and cozy.

Turkish breakfast was delicious and service was great! Lots of little Turkish inspired memorabilia and decor, if that's your thing.

This was a regular haunt of mine in the 90's back when Islington was the home of New Labour. I moved to the other side of the world but found myself back in London and decided to try Gallipoli again after almost 20 years.
I'm happy to report that it is as good as I remember. We shared a plate of tavuk shish. The chicken was perfectly cooked and seasoned, super moist with a perfect char. We also got a plate is Iskender. Absolutely delicious sauce. Get the bread to mop it up. We also had the amazing broad beans in Turkish yoghurt which was incredible. We tried the Turkish wine and weren't fans. That's the only negative we had.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sun L.Cupertino, United States18379221 Jan 2017
Besides the long waiting time for the food to come, many good things to say here!
1. Food was good, delicious, the grilled chicken was a little dry compared to the Afghan style which is marinated with yogurt. The limb was very tender and juicy. The wrap was good too.
2. Service was good, very attentive. Free desserts at the end. Take out box with a bag and a smile. Very friendly staff.
3. Price is good too. It is not cheap but it is reasonable with decent portion.
Sit inside under the big skylight and the meal will be filled with sunshine!
Enjoy!
PS: Around the corner, you could get grilled chicken Turkish style from Angel Kebab, cheaper but you get what you pay for!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Laura C.Birmingham, West Midlands4616413117 Jun 2016
Not to be confused with the Gallipoli restaurant just up the road, this Bistro is owned by the same people. Slightly confusing. The food, though.
We had the baba ganoush, fried aubergine and goats cheese mezze as light bites to share. All excellent.
Our pal let us try some of his grilled lamb. Gorgeously smoky, utterly tender.
Alas, I didn't have a big enough appetite to do justice to the menu, but if I ever get the chance I will return ravenous.
The service is efficient and friendly, and you sit under a ceiling of low-hanging Middle-eastern lamps. A real Turkish delight.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
