Fantastic example of the monumental scale architecture that is such a wonderful part of Berlin. NalepaStrasse has a kind of magical feeling about it. So many beautiful studios and the little Milch Bar (deco has not changed since 1955) is lovely cheap for basic east style food and a cold beer. In between studio sessions it is beautiful to sit and watch the spree flow by. If you an get into a room in in the tower this is also the best place I have found to watch the sky flow by.
Such a good building with incredibly long hallways, neat old clocks, switchboards, and novel little details. When I asked where the restroom was, the guy at the studio replied that it was a 3-4 minute walk to the other side of the floor. He then pointed at the a skateboard and said, "If you know how to skate, you can get there faster."
I skateboarded through the narrow hallways of an old abandoned radio thing in East Berlin. Not many people can say that, and it sounds cool!
Also, my band went to Shaltraum here. It's an aufnahme studio. Great for punk and indie bands!
