I am a Californian living in London, and this is my favourite Burrito place in the Square Mile. The burritos are generously big (with lots of options for fillings) and the taste is nearly as authentic as something as I would buy back in California (Oh, how I miss you, Baja Fresh). They also have a small marquis in the "food market" that has sprung up on Ghoulston street near Petticoat Lane market that serves small burritos, tacos and chili con carne.
So they have been open a couple of months now, enough time for a few of the creases to be ironed out and time for another Yelp methinks.
They are running a coffee promotion this week, which basically gets you a free coffee every day if you are on their VIB list, which is broadly speaking anyone that gave their e-mail address when they first opened, or a much discounted coffee, if you just give your e-mail address now. Now I'm a coffee fan, so I wouldn't necessarily go into a Starbucks if they were giving away free coffee and stock options. But as this place is new I need to give it a go. Monday's latte was flavoursome but luke warm, which is great for flavour but not for getting it back to my desk to sup while catching up with the e-mail. Tuesday's cappucino, was warmer but still a little on the cool side, Today's was served at 57C/135F, which I know because the lovely girl that runs the place made mine with the thermometer in the cup. It was perfect. Exactly the right temperature to start drinking straight away, all the flavour still there yet hot enough to get it back to the office, or it would have been but it was so good there was none left within a minute or so. This is a very mellow mild roast cofee, wonderful! I need to have another one tomorrow to see if it has ousted Carluccios from the number one spot in my personal best cappucino around Bishopsgate list.
I was also in here yesterday in need of a lunch time burrito fix. Let me start off by saying that this burrito was HUGE, huge with a capital HUE, huge like Texas, dauntingly can I possibly eat all that huge. I did and it was very good indeed. They are made in front of you and you can have any ingredients you want. Mine was beef, rice, black beans, salady stuff, cheese, sour cream, guacamole and a lot of tomatillo salsa picante.
So in summary, come here and eat one, your tummy will love you, your waistline probably won't.
