I love independent bicycle shops. More than any other kind of shop, I make a point of using independent dealers because the difference in service between these and places like Halfords is immense.
I took my bike in for a service here. Not only was it much cheaper than I expected, but they did such a good job it felt like I was riding a new bike. While the bike was in, I bought a pannier rack and got them to fit it while doing the service, something they did without hint of trying to ask for a few extra quid.
The service here is excellent. The shop is well established and you can see why customers are so loyal.
As HollywoodNova says, they have a great range of bikes and accessories. They are one of the few stockists who keep Bromptons alongside everything else. They also keep maps and guides for cycling in the area, and dispense advice and tips readily enough.
Offers a wide array of bicycles, including childrens bicycles, male and female bicycles. Includes mountain bikes and bmxes, and racing bikes. You can buy inexpensive bicycles and also those more specialised more expensive bicycles.
The accessories include all the items that a keen cyclist would need such as cycle shorts, water bottles, bicycle pumps and such. As someone who enjoys riding a bicycle but isn't a whizz at the repair side of it I find their repair service essential. They will repair small things such as punctures/tyre changes all the way up to major repairs at a fair price. They also manage to carry out repairs in with a pretty quick turnaround time.
