A beaujou space nestled between two garages in Kemp Town, The Faitrade Gallery is a fantastic gallery and framing shop. As the name implies, it's also an ethical gallery where 70% of the profit goes directly back to the artists. It's currently only open at weekends but it's well worth popping in. The owner Tim is an excellent curator and has so far exhibited an eclectic mix of talented local artists including Pam Glews, Jim Saunders, Alex Binnie and legendary rock photographer Steve Gullick.
The gallery also hosts a series of incredibly intimate acoustic and electric music shows at weekends with previous guests including signer-songwriter Tom Brusseau and rock act Tenebrous Liar. If you need something special framing, Tim also produces reasonably priced frames for individual prints and canvases as well as full exhibitions. I've had about a dozen different frames from him and they've all looked fab.
