There are two types of people in this world. That's right, there is a line in the f***in' sand. You are either the type of person who would love the hell out of watching 'the Pakistani Elvis' perform at a little Indian restaraunt in Hackney, or the type of person who wouldn't. If you fall into the latter category, you might as well not even try to be my friend.

Sal sings, dances, and shreds like the King. This was one of my most purely joyful evenings in London to date.

There is a new hierarchy of brilliance on our humble little planet:

3. God
2. Sex
1. Pakistani Elvis

I booked a table at Agra Tandoor because an Elvis impersonator sounded like decent dinner entertainment. I was completely unprepared for the 3.5 hour Elvis Extravaganza put on by a ludicrously talented performer. Had I read the website I might have known that Sal had won numerous awards, appeared on the BBC and was once chose to sing 'Hound Dog' to an audience of 10 million people.

Of course I didn't read his website so I was completely unprepared for a man in a gold and sequined jumpsuit with the voice of Mr. Presley to come up on stage and R-A-W-K. And by stage I mean the area they had closed off in the restaurant for the show, it was an intimate,  family affair (Sal's disapproving sister was there. Quick aside: I found out she was disapproving when I asked her to dance and she refused. Twice) and it was phenomenal.

The best part about the entire show was learning that Sal LOVES Elvis! It's not just a job for this guy, which is why he started his show by pointing out that he isn't an impersonator, but a tribute artist. He started just about every song with a mention of the date, album and circumstance behind the tunes. It was sort of like watching VH1's Storytellers (http://www.dailymotion...).

So much more to say. I guess you'll just have to see him for yourself.
