It is so sad to see that this lovely art and craft shop which has been run by the Allen family for almost 120 years now has a for sale sign outside. It is unfortunately a sign of the times with so many town centre shops closing on a weekly basis. People will be sorry when they have no more independent retailers left and every town centre has the same old shops all around the country. Derogatory comments (such as that from someone who doesn't even know how to spell St Helens) have obviously not helped. We cannot buy bespoke picture framing online and this wonderful shop will be sorely missed.
This is not my favourite place to shop for arts and crafts materials. While the shop itself is always bustling with customers, to me it has the feeling of being rather run down and shabby.
Some of the products on the shelves look as if they have been there for years! Not to mention that some of the prices are a little bit overpriced in my opinion, you have to wonder how they manage to keep open for business in the current financial climate.
Whenever I go in this craft shop I never seem to find what Im looking for, even if I ask the staff they usually tell me they dont stock it and I end up having to go elsewhere for it.
