A brilliant play park and country park for children of all ages, even the big kids (adults) will love playing here! I know we did!
The play equipment is fantastic; it also has equipment for people in wheel chairs.
There is also a huge sandpit, so remember to take your bucket and spade! The park sells them if you forget! The walks around the park are also great and more recently they seem to be making all the paths tarmac so everyone can enjoy them. There are lots of huge trees to explore and climb too!
The huge duck pond and stream are full of wildlife; my children adore feeding the ducks, which have to be the best feed ducks about!
After all of that there is a cafe, craft shops and museum to wander round too.
The downside I have to say is the toilets are in need of an update!

Nice enough, small sized country park.
There are some old and interesting pieces of ironwork from it's quarry days, including a rusting large yellow train (can pass for Bill or Ben if you have a young Thomas fan :-) )
There is a nice play area, a pond, a small woods. A stroll round the whole place would take under an hour even at quite a slow pace so it's not absolutely huge. Bordered by countryside and with nice views over fields etc, the Jurassic Way track borders the park too.
The cafe could be so much nicer, but is extremely reasonable and friendly enough. Simple, fresh food and cups of tea/cakes etc. Garden furniture and a large window overlooking the outside, but often steamed up.
There are rooms next to the cafe that contain a myriad of secondhand books for sale and a model of the old quarry which is interesting.
There are craft workshops and whatnot too, but they are privately run.

A massive park with large green expanses of grass and woodland - you could get lost in it it's so big! There are walks to go on, a barbeque area and plenty of opportunities for spotting wildlife. There are plenty of bins for dog waste and the whole area is dog-friendly. There are always lots of people there on a pleasant day but you can always find somewhere secluded if you want a picnic or just some peace and time to soak up the surroundings. There's a historic house, teashop and a steel museum to keep you amused, kids and adults alike! There's ample free parking but it is on the grass so not recommended when it's wet and boggy! A great place for a day out.

Lovely country park. Often have afternoons out here in summer. Nice place for long or short walks. Also a nice place to go to just relax. There is a nice little cafe with seats inside and benches outside. Water bowl outside cafe for doggies. In the cafe there is often some books for sale. I have had a few from there. There is a small but intresting museum to look around. There are toilets including disabled. There is also a big play area and a big duck pond.

a nice blend of open space and park and offers a small shopping area for craft type of person with a cheap, but well stocked cafe. there is a little dolls house shop which will thrill the enthusiast.
playground good with, good quality and safe play equipment with an old steam train to observe and look at. the dog walking facility is great and they really are dog friendly. good parking facility with ample space and you could quite easily bring along a bbq and have a great day or evening.
this place is a little gem and i could certainly recommend a visit
