This is a time warp hotel - you could easily be in the 1970s here but it is not faded or dirty but just like a well maintained 1970s hotel!
It is charming and really prettily located just under the castle walls in Launceston with great views from the top floor windows. From the outside it looks like a really big house but inside is spacious. Reception and all staff are friendly and willing to talk, you feel welcome from the first moment you step in.
My bedroom was perfectly adequate - the flat screen TV the only incongruous item in the 70's decor which included an avocado bathroom suite.
The beds were, unfortunately, built for hobbits but apart from that I had a comfortable night's sleep undisturbed by the party going on in the bar on the ground floor which did disturb another guest.
Breakfast was great not outstanding but plenty of well cooked food and lovely grapefruit.
I would stay here again but it may not be to everyone's taste - if you really want to know what it was actually like in the 1970s you HAVE to visit!
