This place is awesome! A must visit if you're in Limerick! The Irish Stew well, let's just say I got home the day before yesterday and I am still dreaming about it! My husband had the fish and chips. We both thought the food was really good!
The music was so unbelievable! The atmosphere threw me off in the beginning. We went there in the evening and when I looked around it felt like Pirate's of the Caribbean to me. I wasn't sure what to expect with the food and music. I was very pleasantly surprised.
The gentleman who waited on us also tended to the bar in front of us where we sat at a small table nearby. I was amazed at his ability to give such excellent service considering how busy this place became as we sat there.
We decided after dinner to move our things over to the entry window where we could have a better view of the musicians and the bartender/waiter helped us move our things over there.
I thought it was just charming the way the Waiter/Bartender referred to the females as
"Darlin" when addressing them. The Irish accent, jet black hair and charm made you feel like you were back in time and most definitely in an authentic Irish Pub!
We had dessert once we moved and the music started. The sticky toffee pudding was so yummy and my hubby had some type of chocolate cake with ice cream. Both were just delicious! This was our favorite Pub on our visit to Ireland!
Went here on the recommendation of a local. I had the cheeseburger with bacon and it was juicy and flavorful. Absolutely fantastic pub food. There was a live band down stairs playing traditional Irish tunes and there was an upstairs were a British indie rock band was playing. The vibe was very typically Irish, right down to the old man in a cap sitting alone at the bar with his beer watching the one small tv in the corner. That's how you know it's a good spot.
Lovely pub but is somewhat remote. It's not far off the main area but the appearance of the street there leads you to feel off track.
Food is wonderful. We enjoyed the garlic mussels appetizer, the chicken curry, the bacon pesto pasta and the Irish stew.
Atmosphere is cozy without that forced decorated feel. Love the candles on the table and the fire. Good service!
Great selection of drinks and whiskey.
Delightful service ....which has so far been all of Ireland.
Mussels: ok,fresh but the broth base is more creamy
Fish and Chips ... Perfect bar food. Couldn't change it one bit!
Irish Stew.... Absolutely delicious! Hearty ... Could tell brewing for a bit as potatoes were dissolved
Toffee Cheesecake ... Favorite part of meal. Totally different from the cheesecake in the States, very light, almost like a firm pudding consistency with hints of toffee.
Top off meal with Connemara Whiskey
Live Irish Music.... Plays around 9, but plan to be flexible with time. May start late if a game is playing in the background.
We ate at Dolan's twice (thanks to advice of a friendly bartender) and it was one of the best meals we've had in Ireland.
The food was very good, the portions were huge and the service was friendly, courteous and fast.
If/when I am back in Limerick, that's where I am going for dinner!
Local musicians made the night at this friendly place! The local patrons showed us epic hospitality! Thank you Limerick ! Long live the Defense Force too! ESP Matt!
This is your average bar, very Irish with locals playing music etc. Food is alright, nothing to scream about. The staff are very friendly and will go out their way to make you happy.
Dolans is a smashing spot. The atmosphere is fantastic and the music is always top notch.
The best bar in Ireland . Love this place . Great staff and never any trouble or fighting there.
Dolan's is one of the best spots in Limerick. They are the only place in Limerick that has good alternative music and brings in some quality events. They also do drink specials and serve a good dinner as well.
Great food, Great drinks, and if you get a chance to listen to the live music you won't be disappointed! We heard an Irish band called the Elders and they were awesome!
Fish and Chips were great. Atmosphere perfect on a cold night - stone and brick walls, dim lighting, and warm inside. Outside patio had heat lamps.
Dolan's is a great spot if your looking for live music. The bar itself usually has live Trad bands and out the back there is whare house which puts on alot of live gigs for most groups or bands that are on tour. The also serve nice food and a good pint. the only down side is it is at the far end of town away from the most of the other pubs but it's only a 10 min walk, but once your down there you'll be there for the night but you 'll still be fairly happy with your choice.
Great place for live music and good food. There is always sessions at night and it has two gig venues also so there is a great choice of music.
