Di Paolo is an Italian run cafe opposite the Pavilion on Bexhill seafront. When I first walked in I thought it looked in dire need of redecoration, and this was only strengthened the longer I stayed there.
The premisis is split into two parts, a cafe at the front, and a table service, licenced restaurant at the rear.
I opted for the restraunt area, and was not seated, so chose a table myself. The menu was severly limited, and not all the food served in the cafe was on the restraunt menu, and there were just four starters.
I opted for the lasagne, and was disapointed with the presentation, taste, and size. My fiencee had the roast, which tasted like a school dinner, with bad pees, carrots, mash, and meat.
For the desert I chose to try thier Italian style, homemade, famaily recipe ice cream. Having just come back from two weeks in Italy I can assure it was not very Italian. The tiramasu and banoffee flavours stated the same, and the strawberry flavour made me feel sick after a few spoons.
When it came for time to pay we had to pay by cash, as they have no card machine, but it did also bring the first redeaming feature, the price. The price could not however stop the inevitable bad review you have just read.
