Craving a curry, we set-out - on foot - on a frosty February Tuesday night. Everywhere seemed eerily empty so we kept walking (on the point of turning back) when we spied the elegant white frontage of Deea.
Although it was 10.30 pm, they were still impressively busy and kept us waiting for a couple of minutes before showing us to a comfortable corner table. The pickles that accompanied the poppadoms were deliciously different yet still tasted authentically homemade. My king prawns with tangy sauce were fabulous, although there was too much sauce for my taste and the accompanying puri was too greasy. My curry-fanatic friend enjoyed his chicken tikka masala with lemon rice and bhindi bhaji but found the sauce too rich and unusually sweet.
Overall, we enjoyed our visit and were warmed, restored and ready for a long, cold walk home.
