Great dance studio, I've only attended salsa classes but they cover a variety of different dance lessons. The teacher has an excellent style making it easy to learn and fun too. A good variety of ages and abilities in the class and the music is brilliant. After the class it is well worth going downstairs to the bodega/tapas bar for a wee refreshment and bite to eat then having a go at what you've learned on the little dancefloor. Great atmosphere, very friendly and makes me feel as though I'm on holiday.
Dance with Attitude is a great resource if you are an adult looking to pick up a new hobby or if dancing is something you've wanted to try but never had the opportunity. Here you can pay per class rather than paying a bulk sum so if you try out a class and don't like it then it's not the end of the world - just try another one.
There are a tonne of classes on offer here including;
If you are really into dancing then you can buy a bundle of 3 or 4 to save money or you can even buy a "dance passport". For £70 (£55) you get a months "passport" which means you can go to as many classes as you like and dance your socks off. You can also get "passports" for a period of 3, 6 or 12 months.
I used to work in a basement nightclub that held salsa classes, and when working during them I always found the social dynamic odd, sometimes embarrassing, but nonetheless fascinating.
We had the teacher himself, a balding lothario who I got the impression was at it with the majority of the younger female attendees, and groups of 40 something couples whom definitely had a more seedy agenda than coming simply for a dance, but didn't fancy getting caught dogging in a car park. There were also a few lonely social miisfits and a contingent of bitter, hateful single women in their early 30s, whose excessive white wine consumption didn't really do much for their chances of meeting Mr Right, or even Mr Desperate.
With about 10 different types of dance class on, including salsa and other lusty latino-themed varieties, any amateur sociologists among you could have a field day in here.
Dance with Attitude is a dance studio based in the West end of Glasgow on South Street. The instructors are all very friendly and they have a wide variety of dance classes available.
They regularly have dance shows which you can perform in and get your friends to come and watch you.
The class price are good and you can get a discount if you book a block of classes in advance.
The only negative I can give is that it is not that easy to get to by public trnsport - the easiest way is to get a bus to Dumbarton Rd and then walk, or easier still drive and park outside.
We offer quality adult classes in a wide range of styles, from Flamenco to Bollywood, Tango to Breakin and more! For kids we have street and breakin classes. You can see our full timetable on our website.
We have mirrored studios with sprung floors and an in-house cafe (La Bodega Tapas Bar) where people socialise before and after classes and where we hold showcases and cabaret nights. You can get as involved as you want from simply attending classes to taking part in shows. Always great fun & great for boosting confidence. It's a whole experience.
We have a great atmosphere in our classes - we believe people learn more easily if it's fun and relaxed and it's important to learn at your own pace. We try to offer a style to suit everyone and it's never too late to start.
Established in 1984.
DWA was founded by Karen Pasi running classes from various venues in addition to teaching dance in Schools, Colleges & Universities.
The dream always was to have a dedicated dance space with mirrors and sprung floors and after many years of searching for the right property, the Studios in South Street were finally opened. We got the keys on Christmas Eve 2003 and after a lot of hard work and help from our friends we started the first classes in April 2004.
Now we have a full timetable of classes and a dedicated team of talented teachers.
In 2008, with her partner Alexis Alonso Leyva the cafe, La Bodega Tapas Bar was opened - designed to help fund the studios and to develop the building further. The cafe has taken on a life of its own, well known for it's delicious food as well as great live music, performances & dance nights.
It is still a work in progress but very much a labour of love, with a 3rd space still to develop as another studio and upgrading of facilities.
